About this listen

The Rise of the Dragon and the Fall of Kings

Lord Regent Geder Palliako's war has led his nation and the priests of the spider goddess to victory after victory. No power has withstood him, except for the heart of the one woman he desires. As the violence builds and the cracks in his rule begin to show, he will risk everything to gain her love or else her destruction.

Clara Kalliam, the loyal traitor, is torn between the woman she once was and the woman she has become. With her sons on all sides of the conflict, her house cannot stand, but there is a power in choosing when and how to fall.

And in Porte Oliva, banker Cithrin bel Sarcour and Captain Marcus Wester learn the terrible truth that links this war to the fall of the dragons millennia before, and that to save the world, Cithrin must conquer it.

On a roll here. Each book in Daniel Abraham's Dagger & Coin series pulls me into this world that much more. Each character, with some important exceptions, recognizes there is a price to be paid for solving the delimma of the Spider Goddess. I will be starting book 5 now.

Love This Compelling Series

The way Daniel Abraham translates the principals of banking and government in his fantasy world is brilliant. Coupled with likeable characters and solid action, this is a fantasy series I'd recommend to anyone.

Fantasy political thriller?

I often don’t finish series that go longer than three books because I find most authors can’t maintain the quality. That has not been the case with Daniel Abraham. This series keeps getting better and I look forward to spending time with his well developed characters in each book.

The only comment I have is on the publishing. It would be way more convenient to have some numbering for the chapters.

Great book and a good production

For those missing the space the Expanse used to fill this series will definitely help.
No its not scifi and its not as sprawling or intricate but its got the bones of characters that
will remind of Amos and Holden. The main female character is unique a genius for finance
and the psychology of treachery in the body of a sylph. The tyrant a bumbling Peter Sellers
caricature that you can't help but feel sympathy for even as he murders without any sense of
complication or self hate.
The one complaint I have is not for these entertaining and engaging works its for Audible.
For whatever reason the last book of the series isn't available here. Well it is available elsewhere.
I guess they don't want people to get it here. Again money and its games. Guess its fitting.

Brilliant

Abraham is among the greatest living fantasy authors and the narration is also excellent. The ending for this was both quietly triumphant and chilling, perfect for the penultimate book in the series

Another great one from Daniel Abraham
