On an asteroid station, a group of prisoners are oblivious to the catastrophe that awaits them.

On a future Earth beset by overpopulation, pollution, and poverty, a crime boss desperately seeks to find a way off planet.

On an alien world, a human family struggles to establish a colony and make a new home.

All these stories and more are featured in this unmissable collection of short fiction set in the hardscrabble world of The Expanse.

Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham are two of the best writers of our time. Why? Because they write stories that are timeless and classic. There’s an awful lot of mediocre dreck out there but the expanse series isn’t it. Great literature moves us and provides us with insight into what it means to be human. I’ve never ceased to be amazed at the ability of these two to create characters that you instantly care about. Their gift for character development is unsurpassed. The understanding of human relationships and interaction is profound almost to the point of leaving you wondering that these guys can’t possibly have anything wrong in their lives given their complete understanding of human nature and emotions. The thing I always tell people about the Expanse is that if humanity ever makes it to the point of planetary colonization it’ll be similar to this story. This series is a very plausible model of how that occurs. Amazing writing as usual. Jefferson Mays delivers the prose with his usual uncanny brilliance. Having him as narrator for this series is one of the best casting decisions ever. Whomever was responsible for that should get a promotion or whatever professional kudos get handed out for that sort of decision making ability. Anyway great series of side stories within the expanse universe. I just found myself wanting to find out more about how the two children ended up getting captured by Dr. Cortazza.

I had read a couple of these before, but really I was, without knowing it, waiting for this collection.

These stories aren’t the *saga* of the Expanse. That’s in the novels. These are the corners, the character moments, and the backstories. I think they’re all very worthwhile.

I didn’t read/listen these till after I read a series. Amazing. It was a nice way to cap off the series for me.

What a blast.

Wonderful summation to so many of the elements in the story, lovely performances as well.

These are excellently crafted stories that answer some of the lingering loose threads of the series. And as much as I love the narrator’s delivery, I really hate how they choose to pronounce certain names. Particularly Avasarala.

Great additions to the Expanse Universe.

Very satisfying to learn more about the characters, their backstories and, in some cases, destinies.

Must read for fans of The Expanse

These were great mini stories about each character. Thank you for tightening up some loose ends.

Love the authors notes.

Rounds out many characters; Gives them more depth. Ties things up nicely at the end.

Very good. Fills in "blanks", so to speak.

For any fan of the Expanse book series, this one is a must-read, must-listen.
