About this listen

A deserted island, a vicious storm, a murderer amongst friends…

It was meant to be a fun reunion, a chance for six friends to reconnect and relive the adventures that brought them together in the first place. But from the moment they arrive on their island home for the weekend, Lyndsey, Sonia, Bobbie, Amanda, Juliet, and Val realise that their paradise is filled with peril, and there are consequences when you try to outrun the ghosts of your past.

As everything starts to fall apart, and the friends begin to turn against one another, deep, dark secrets are revealed, and an unimaginable horror is unleashed. They came seeking adventure, but now they’ll be lucky to leave with their lives…

Interesting story. Intriguing.

.Although i never had a group of girls that was so close as friends, it was cool to hear the narration. And the suspense was electrifying. i never guessed that while a climbing vacation was in the works, a plan for murder was also in the works Can't say anymore or it would be a spoiler alert.

What the heck ending was that?

Overall, it was a good listen.

The premise for this story caught my attention and I devoured it rather quickly. I liked the eerie setting, an the fast paced storyline. A lot had happened in a short period of time.

I took off two stars because of the ending. I wished the ending had a more clearly defined resolution. I definitely felt cheated and lost with an ending like that. Definitely was a let down.

Excellent, Surprisingly Good

It takes a chapter or two for this one to take off but once it does I was riveted.
I could not put it down.
These characters are all well developed, the protagonist is entirely relatable and human.
The best thing about this mystery is that it’s a true mystery.
The reader spends the entire book wondering if the killer is one of these “friends” or if perhaps there is, in fact another player, somewhere in this wind ravaged, storm ravaged, isolated island just two miles off of the British coast.
The only thing separating these women from near certain death and survival is this two miles of treacherous ocean.
They have no radio or boat, or cellular service of any kind.
The tension ratchets up as the story progresses and it becomes scarier and scarier with each passing chapter.
This one sat in my library for a second because it was something I’d bought along with two other books that I couldn’t put down.
It was such a pleasant surprise to find that I had this incredible story, just waiting to be discovered.
Beautifully atmospheric, terrifying in its gradual and total claustrophobia and paranoia, and filled with interesting and relatable people.
Even the Bird Warden “Marne” became a fascinating aspect of this story.
Don’t hesitate.
This is a book you won’t soon forget and it actually causes the reader to pause and ask oneself “how well do you really know anyone?” Even your closest friends.
Certainly worth the credit and deftly performed by Sarah Lambie.
You will be glad you invested in this unique and well told tale.
I hope to see much more from the very talented Rakkie Bennett.
A stunning debut.

Bad!

I forced myself to finish this book! I even put the speed at 1.9 just to get through it. Boring, slow, no story line. Yuck!!

Waste of time

This had potential, but fell flat. It's slow and predictable. Guess that's why it was cheap.
