About this listen

Book 3 in Anthony J Melchiorri's The Tide series.

New heroes emerge from the smoldering ashes of humanity....But so do new threats.

A man-made plague has ravaged humanity, the military is in shambles, and chaos reigns over the world. Hope seems nothing more than a dream.

Captain Dominic Holland is determined to stop the inevitable. His daughters are finally safe, and his crew has found new ways to combat the Skulls. He leads the Hunters on a mission to recover vital research that may hold the key to stopping the biological agent responsible for this apocalyptic new world.

But unexpected new dangers threaten the Hunters' efforts. They must adapt and face these challenges with everything they have. After all, it's no longer just their lives on the line. The future of the human race relies on their success.

Can the Hunters salvage what remains of humanity? Or is it already too late?

Zombies and monsters

Would you consider the audio edition of The Tide to be better than the print version?

I like the audio version, the voice actor is great & really gives a good voice to all the characters.

What did you like best about this story?

I like that the author has added all the different types of zombies - not just skulls. It really ups the level of scare in the book.

Have you listened to any of Ryan Kennard Burke’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, He's done a great job on this series. I'd look for other things preformed by him.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the hunters were escaping from the museum.

I enjoyed it for the most part

If you could sum up The Tide in three words, what would they be?

the story moved

Any additional comments?

A military consultant is needed. When military title, like Command Sergeant Major (CSM), is messed up it sticks out like a sore thumb. The CSM was referred to as the "Commander" Sergeant Major once. Ouch! the title is Command Sergeant Major

Detailed battle scenes

This is the third book in The Tide series. I'm continuing to enjoy the series because of the level of detail put into each battle scene. It could be argued that the plot is on a bit of a slow role, however, I find that this doesn't bother me in the least due to the amazing battle scenes.

The core of this third book is the search for medical supplies and a new human based thread which has emerged.

I'm eager to get into book four later this week.

Best so far

Though I typically prefer the action of the first few desperate days and not so much the cloak and dagger against an evil cabal. This book flowed well.

More action than first two books combined.

The Oni Agent outbreak continues its rise to devastating levels across the globe. The infected, now called “Skulls” are evolving. The horn or scale-like protrusions on their bodies are growing, covering more of their body and becoming thicker, like armor. There also is a king-size version of the Skulls, called “Goliaths”; bigger, meaner, and more dangerous in every way. Another evolved version spits acid; they call these “Droolers”. Add to this the political climate is turning against Holland & crew as well. There are facets of government that definitely have conflicting visions of how things should be run (what’s new?). It is becoming evident that finding an antidote is taking second place to staying alive. Captain Holland & crew certainly have their work cut out for themselves and have difficulty determining who to trust. There seems to be more action and excitement in this third book than the first two combined.
