About this listen

For over a hundred years, the Angelini Shoe Company in Greenwich Village has relied on the leather produced by Vechiarelli & Son in Tuscany. This ancient business partnership provides the twist of fate for Valentine Roncalli to fall in love with Gianluca Vechiarelli, a tanner with a complex past...and a secret.

But after the wedding celebrations are over, Valentine wakes up to the hard reality of juggling the demands of a new business and the needs of her new family. Confronted with painful choices, Valentine remembers the wise words that inspired her in the early days of her beloved Angelini Shoe Company: "A person who can build a pair of shoes can do just about anything." Now, the proud, passionate Valentine is going to fight for everything she wants and savor all she deserves - the bitter and the sweet of life itself.

Romantic and poignant, told with humor and warmth, and bursting with a cast of endearing characters, The Supreme Macaroni Company is an unforgettable narrative about family, work, romance, and the unexpected turns of life and fate.

Great Listen!

I am sorry to see this Trilogy end. I feel like I know these people and could walk into the feast of the 7 fishes and no one would mind. Will Val ever marry Brett??

My heart breaks

What can I say except this book made me cry, but my broken heart is because it’s over. What a gift to have this wonderful work of art to read. I recommend starting at the first book, Very Valentine, then continue onto the second, Brava, Valentine. The richness of all your senses will be engaged on every page as only Trigiani can. Each character is alive and vibrant and true. Right now I’m experiencing a sensory overload and I feel too close to these books to do the review justice. Loved the audio, Cassandra Campbell was just wonderful! 😍

A pattern emerges

What other book might you compare The Supreme Macaroni Company to and why?

I feel that Adriana's books have a similar theme and I would probably compare this book to The Shoemaker's Wife, in that both women hesitate to get involved with their husbands and then fall deeply in love with them, subsequently losing them.

What does Cassandra Campbell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Cassandra Campbell has read most of Ms. Trigiani's books and does a good job though she does not compare to Ms. Trigiani herself.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reactions this time.

Any additional comments?

It is frustrating when authors repeat the same theme in numerous books. It makes them to some degree, predictable. I find that somewhat annoying. However, I did enjoy the book and enjoy the characters.

Loved it

Sorry that this is the final book in the Valentine series. Trigiani's story wraps things up (to a point) and left me hoping that someday another book would join the series. I'm going to miss these characters!
Cassandra Campbell's narration is wonderful - glad I decided to listen. Just a heads up: have some tissues nearby.
