Acerca de esta escucha

The Strange Death of Europe is a highly personal account of a continent and culture caught in the act of suicide. Declining birth rates, mass immigration, and cultivated self-distrust and self-hatred have come together to make Europeans unable to argue for themselves and incapable of resisting their own comprehensive alteration as a society and an eventual end.

This is not just an analysis of demographic and political realities; it is also an eyewitness account of a continent in self-destruct mode. It includes accounts based on travels across the entire continent, from the places where migrants land to the places they end up, from the people who pretend they want them to the places which cannot accept them.

Murray takes a step back at each stage and looks at the bigger and deeper issues which lie behind a continent's possible demise, from an atmosphere of mass terror attacks to the steady erosion of our freedoms. The audiobook addresses the disappointing failure of multiculturalism, Angela Merkel's U-turn on migration, the lack of repatriation, and the Western fixation on guilt. Murray travels to Berlin, Paris, Scandinavia, Lampedusa, and Greece to uncover the malaise at the very heart of the European culture and to hear the stories of those who have arrived in Europe from far away.

This sharp and incisive audiobook ends up with two visions for a new Europe - one hopeful, one pessimistic - which paint a picture of Europe in crisis and offer a choice as to what, if anything, we can do next. But perhaps Spengler was right: 'civilizations, like humans, are born, briefly flourish, decay, and die'.

I expected this to have racist anti-immigrant undertones. But the discussion of where culture comes from and some of the ideas and beliefs we take for granted, in contrast with many of the worldviews of islamic immigrants that have entered Europe recently was straight forward and thoughtful.

Honestly, it was a little depressing to listen to. I'm not European. I'm concerned for them though.

This was a good and important book to listen through, though difficult due to the content. I recommend it.

Eye opening

We no longer have an excuse, Murray has clearly explained how Europe thought they could bring diverse people together and live peacefully, but they ignored a basic truth; we prefer to live with likeminded folk. Skin tone just a distraction to the need for common beliefs as the force that unifies. Following in Europe’s footsteps is foolish and will only further divide our country. Good read!

Solid

Liberalism at its utmost worst...but one could see this coming at least 30 years ago when the utopian EU project began. No utopian society has ever lasted.

Astonishingly tragic

Murray has done a fantastic job at presenting facts and history of issues facing Europe.

Incredibly informative

This book has clearly shown based on the history of the mid to later 20th century that Europe has a guilt ridden and suicidal approach to itself. The continent has bought into the idea that they are the basis for ALL that has gone wrong in the world. Now somehow it deserves to be the group that tries to solve the problems of the world, and all the while letting millions of migrants for any reason inhabit the "eutopia" Europe is only to bring the destruction of all that has become Europe over centuries.

Quite a read! Very enlightening and sad. The future is not bright for the continent.

Wow!!! Quite a eye opener!

If you want to understand the future of Europe reading this book is a must. A very frank and brave exploration of the implications of massive immigration into Western Europe. Murray is an excellent and engaging writer. The narration was perfect. Highly recommend.

Critical Read for Understanding Europe

There are many people who have seen the writing on the wall and tried to speak out but they have been ostracized and hounded out of society by their own people many of them are in fear of their lives living under police protection some have fled to the states where people are willing at least to give them a fair hearing under freedom of speech, Britain is weakening that cause daily, the way things are going if things don't change for the better or give at least some hope it may come that the table's will turn and it will be the politicians who are hounded out. B, Red.

The guilty are a traitor class of politicians.

A interesting and deep dive into the crisis decades in the making. Douglas Murray manages to hold your attention through out on what can be considered dry policy discussion and tells the stories of the migrants, native Europeans, and their politicians which are often at odds.

if the migrants crisis in Europe is something you wish to know more about, I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

A fascinating perspective...

A well-written and honest look at the devastating consequences of Europe's current immigration policies that value multiculturalism and the *appearance* of absolute tolerance over the safeguarding of Western civilization. A must-read for anyone wondering 1) why Brexit? 2) what's happening to Europe? and 3) why is Western civilization worth protecting from multiculturalism?

Visit Europe while it’s still recognizable. Never would have thought feelings of colonial guilt and general malaise would be Europe’s downfall. Such a glorious history will be
watered down in 1-2 generations. Unfortunately, China’s govt model appears
to be the future
