Nothing New - but Good Advice

I really like Bethenny but this audiobook and her 'rules' really only presents new ideas and rules for those that haven't dieting much. Most of her rules are really common sense but she does present them in a very clear and easy to understand way. I walked away from the book with really just one new idea - something I have never heard before - and so I suppose, that makes listening and spending the money worth it. What was a nice surprise was how well she read the book - while in a bit of a monotone, for someone who is usually (or at least on air) so animated, I enjoyed listening to her voice and hearing how she chose to present the material. Not a bad idea, even for us experienced dieters, to hear her rules and consider them again.

The only thing that truly frustrated me about the book was that it does feel a bit tough to take advice from someone who seems to have never battled her weight. On her shows she seems quite thin and fit and I've never seen or heard of her being very overweight in the past. She does allude to the fact that she had a problem with food but she would certainly gain more confidence if she would have shared a bit more with her readers what her issues with food were. I was excited when she began to share that part with us but then very disappointed when she didn't discuss what her issues had been. If you're going to open up and write a book of this nature a little of the reason why you're an expert might help.

Really good listen.

If you could sum up The Skinnygirl Rules in three words, what would they be?

very sound advice.

Who was your favorite character and why?

She's not at all preachy.

What about Bethenny Frankel’s performance did you like?

She talks really fast sometimes but I'm used to that and it doesn't bother me. I love what she's accomplished for herself and now her wonderful family.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Her chapter on bindging.

Any additional comments?

I enjoy listening to her, I think she's funny and she makes perfect sense when you stop to think about what's she's saying. It was worth the credit and I want to buy a hard copy.

A Must Listen to book for becoming NATURAL THIN.

This book is so well written and very easy to read. The information is not to technical, but is giving the reader a chance to make a lifestyle food voice choices and investments that anyone could manage to implement with successful results. It is refreshing to see someone who approaches the "diet" concept with fun and delicious recipes that will satisfy your hunger cravings and help you learn the best way to nourish your body by listen to your food voice. I recommend buying this Audible book. I purchased the book for my Kindle and now need to get all the fabulous recipes in Bethanny's Naturally Thin book. All bodies seek balance, food noise needs to shut-up.

This book changed my life

I read this book 10 years ago, it changed my life, I lost 40 pounds and have kept it off. Moreso, it helped launch me into being passionate about health and food and balance. I then bought the audible version to remind myself of the 10 rules if I ever need a refresher or some motivation. I LOVE Bethenny Frankel and think this is her best book. I always love when they’re read by the author too. Makes it more interesting to me.

Thought provoking, worth the $

Frankel writes a lot of truth, and she has obviously done her research when it comes to what "makes" people thin (I think more from a sociological point of view). I definitely agree with most of what she has to say, and I think if more people in the US understood and practices her philosophy, we'd be a much thinner nation. I would have liked to see her back up some of her rules with scientific research; it would make her more creditable (because it would be all to easy to walk away from this book thinking these are just 'Bethisms."). Still, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Loved it

I loved this book. Great info. It's simple, makes perfect sense, and rings true. Although I would consider myself an informed person, I had never thought about food in quite this way, and I'm really glad I was introduced to these new ideas. Plus, this audiobook is just fun to listen to. It's inspiring and realistic. Well done, Bethenny!

Helpful in many ways

the book is a lot of comments sense but put into easy terms and ways I have never correlated my very unhealthy relationship with food. I appreciated all of the examples and suggestions even though I know most all of the information. She tells it like it is, blunt and gets to the point. A big dose of reality that I needed to hear. I feel that some of the views and tools, mostly ways to think about food will help me in the future and I will hear the voice of Bethanny as positive food noise and think before I mindlessly eat junk. I would recommend this to anyone that struggles and has a lot of negative self-talk (food noise).
