Publisher's summary

An emotional and witty story of love, forgiveness, and second chances as the race to the wedding day begins…

It’s been years since Dr. Imani Kemp has returned home to Peachtree Cove, Georgia. As Tallahassee’s most sought-after OB-GYN, she doesn’t have much time for anything else. But when her mom announces she’s marrying a man she just met on a dating app, Imani knows she has to put a stop to it immediately. Let her mom be hurt again after the disastrous way her last marriage ended? Absolutely not. Always her protector, Imani won’t rest until her mom sees reason. She just never expected sparks to fly with the groom’s son...

After his mother’s tragic death, Cyril Dash and his father relocated to Peachtree Cove to escape the gossip and speculation. Now, in this quirky small town, they’ve made a new life for themselves, and after years of grief, his dad has finally found happiness again. And Cyril refuses to let Imani threaten that. The more determined he is to prove the strength of his dad's love, the more drawn he is to this beautiful, complicated woman who's determined to call off the wedding.

But when Cyril’s heartbreaking past comes to light, destiny won’t be denied. Because the secret to this southern wedding is you never know how far you'll go in the name of love.

Great story

The storyline was great and I appreciated the narrator using a Southern accent. I enjoyed the bonus story as well.

Small town vibes.

It was a sweet story overall, from healing to finding love again! Love will always find its way back to one another.

Soooo Good

I really loved this book and I can relate to some of the things. Also because Holly daughter name is the same as mine.

Great Book!

I really enjoyed both stories, and was surprised the second one was as long as it was, since many other writers I follow would have considered that second one long enough to be its own novella! This was my first read from this author and I’m looking forward to finding more from them.

Challenges: I did feel like the book could be slightly better written (more use of pronouns vs. excess word repetition in sentences). There were also a couple parts where miscommunication was used to progress the plot, which I’m not a fan of. Adenrele’s more over-dramatic reading style felt challenging to follow for this book. Finally, I thought it was a little heavy-handed with the social justice themes (like, I appreciate the diversity; however, it was really hard to believe how magically progressive most of the small town’s citizens were).

Like I said though, I thought the book had enough intrigue to keep me interested! Can’t wait to (hopefully) get stories about the other Peachtree Cove citizens that were mentioned!

This was really good

Imani and Cyril met and had an instant attraction before either of them knew who the other was. Then she found out he was the son of the man her mother suddenly wanted to marry. Now Imani has to fight her attraction to him while trying to stop this sudden wedding.
Then there was the bonus story. Joanne and Devante were so cute. She is his best friend's older sister that he always had a crush on. When she is ready to date again and let's him know, he immediately shoots his shot.
This book was wonderful.

I really wanted to like it….

It was sophmoric. On par with a Lifetime movie that you turn on and watch while you do chores. I am sorry I spent a credit on it but glad that it was background noise. No sex scenes, no objectionable language —- if that matters to you. Just boring. Black Southern characters but otherwise pretty cookie-cutter. Very little details avout wedding planning so could not even enjoy that!
