Publisher's summary

A warrior who has lost his will to fight. A spy who has lost her dignity. Together, they will save a hero.

Elshander Grant is a warrior who can no longer fight. His grandsire, the great Alexander Grant, has always insisted that he and his cousins are destined to be great warriors for Scotland, but Els no longer believes it’s true. Memories from battle plague him every time he raises his sword, and he fears one day he’ll hesitate at the wrong moment. He’s almost desperate enough to run from his destiny when Joya, the beautiful spy who caught his attention years before, rides back into his life.

Joya has devoted her life to serving the cause of Robert the Bruce, the rightful King of Scotland. It’s a lonely existence, one that requires great personal sacrifice at times, but she’s never felt ashamed of her decision to serve her country - until she’s reunited with her long-lost brother and he instantly pushes her away for her “unseemly” profession. Lost and alone, separated from the Bruce’s other followers, Joya finds her way to Grant Castle, the one place she knows she’ll be safe.

When Els promises Joya he’ll help her find her brother again, neither of them expect where it will lead: An incident that threatens to tear the Grant family in two, plus the couple’s direct involvement in a pivotal battle between the English and Bruce’s forces. Soon the warrior who cannot fight will need to stand up for everything he holds dear, including the woman who’s stolen his heart.

Animals and children

Grant men, strong women, action and adventure how can you go wrong! But best of all a special little someone who stole the story! As for the narrator he does a great job with the men and children's voices but I think he needs a touch more work on the women. Overall great job! Another great book by Keira Montclair.

More excitement

It was an okay story line but so far, the great grand kids stories are not as exciting as the second generation.

The bit about the sword warming was a bit over the top, I guess I will find out more in the other books to come, I’m surprised none of the Ramsey appeared as yet. Paul Woodson does a remarkable job at story telling

An exciting and entertaining story!

Captured by the story from the beginning to the end. Such rich characters with strong loving family and friends. Evil dastardly foes causing havoc and death to many. Thoroughly entertaining and can not wait for book two!

Once again, a Winner by Keira Montclair

Another great book! Love the intertwining of the characters and the twists and turns! The narrator is, as always, a perfect artist to bring each sentence to life! Love
this duo!

Love the story

Loved this book. As usual can’t wait to listen to the next one. When names from the past come up it makes me nostalgic and want to read the series from the beginning AGAIN

One of the best.

I Absolutely love Keira Montclair. She knocks another one out of the park. I fell in love with the characters. The story line is great. Keira makes you laugh and cry. So many emotions. Paul Woodson narrating brings it all together. Keira and Paul are a match made in Heaven. ❤

Another great addition to the series

Joya is working as a spy for Robert the Bruce when she met Elshander Grant.
She has fallen in love with him, but she doesn't think she fits with his family because of the life she has lead as a spy.
This is definitely not a story you want to skip in this series.

Great

I have followed Kiera Montclair and the Grant family most of the way. I had not read about Jamie and his wife and the books after. I listen to this story and now I have to go read to get caught up. all of Kiera Montclair books are a must read!

How much do I love these stories

Again, a story of family, love, hope, then… war, blood and death. Fear that has no end, and truth with nothing held back,. Combining into a trust that cannot be broken , but is shared and builds with each passing moment! And it all began with a Grant ❤️
