About this listen
When the mayor of a small town in rural Alabama is murdered, the desperate search for answers leads the police to Jesse Barrow, a young drunk with an axe to grind. Despite professing his innocence, Jesse finds himself accused with only one way to keep himself out of the electric chair: to betray his one true friend.
The Resurrection of Jesse Barrow is a fast-paced novella in a distinctive voice, that confronts miscarriages of justice and age old misconceptions about privilege, all the while managing to be thoroughly engrossing. Jesse's story will take you to the grave and back, and leave you with hope that a better world is within our reach. Featuring three additional short stories including "Advokat", the winner of the ABA Journal Ross Writing Contest, and two essays from the author.

Story
A deeply personal work about identity and belonging in a nation coming apart at the seams, Homeland Elegies blends fact and fiction to tell an epic story of longing and dispossession in the world that 9/11 made. Part family drama, part social essay, part picaresque novel, at its heart it is the story of a father, a son, and the country they both call home.

Sydney Henderson is a truly great man. As a young man, Sydney, believing he has accidentally killed a friend, makes a pact with God, promising never to harm another if the boy's life is spared. In the years that follow, the almost pathologically gentle Sydney holds true to his promise - at terrible cost to himself and his family. A captivating new take on the Southern Gothic
Dragan did it again. I don't read a lot of fiction but my wife convinced me to read his earlier novel, "The Wages of Grace." I've officially been converted. Though this story delves into the all too familiar topics of race and its role in the history of the South, it does so without all the familiar pitfalls. I only wish it were longer! If you're looking for a gripping tale of murder, corruption, and redemption, you won't be disappointed. Plus, you get 3 (equally powerful) additional stories to boot!
