About this listen
A baby is born and placed in his dead mother’s arms…
When the funeral shroud is cast over her, his father names his son Pall. It will soon become a name that strikes a shiver of fear into the hearts of those who hear it in combat.
A lone survivor on a battlefield many years later, Pall dazedly recovers from the wounds of war. Despite the dead cast about him, everything he looks upon is unfamiliar to him. Wandering away from this scene of carnage, he encounters John Savage, a giant of a man who puts Pall within the sight of Savage’s seven-foot, nocked longbow.
What ensues from this deadly encounter is an elusive journey for truth. Yet, while it is haunted by a ravening demon that is out to destroy Pall and John, the vision and prayers of a startlingly beautiful young woman protect them from afar.

They were an unlikely pairing - he, an urchin from the back streets of Belfast, and she, a sickly youngster from a well-to-do background. Yet they were chosen to go against the most fearsome creature ever to threaten Earth - the terrifying Beast from the Apocalypse. The wizard Patrick told them of the mission. The Army of Light would face the Army of Darkness. The children had to recover the Lance of Light and use it against the Beast, or the Army of Light would be defeated. Story
Simmie Johnson was born the son of a slave. He was also a genius. After earning a PhD in physics from Tuskegee Institute, he wrote a paper outlining a theory for time travel, including plans for a time machine - called a chronocar - which was published in a scientific journal in the early 1900s. Since the technology required to build the chronocar did not yet exist, the paper and its brilliant writer faded into obscurity.

Take one mermaid, one dismayed young man, and an upper-class social set - and mix well for the frothiest classic since topper! In the tradition of Thorne Smith's Topper and Ron Howard's Splash comes this 1935 madcap romantic fantasy of an ordinary man whose life is turned upside-down and backward when he rescues a charming, but utterly uninhibited mermaid. From the leading romance magazine of its time, The Naughty Mermaid is available for the first time ever in audiobook form.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

Interesting
This was a hard book to get into from the start. Picked up a bit but was not a subject that interested me. Narrator was okay, sometimes really good.
