About this listen

For too long had the Vth Legion ranged out beyond the sight of the wider Imperium, remaining ignorant of the Warmaster's rebellion and the war that inevitably followed.

Only once their primarch, Jaghatai Khan, had satisfied himself that the path before them was just and true did the White Scars choose a side, taking the fight to the traitors on every front. But, four years later, the Legion's unfettered spirit has been broken by relentless attritional warfare against the Death Guard and the Emperor's Children - the Khan's Stormseers must find a clear route to Terra if they are to take part in the final, apocalyptic battle.

Excellent story

This book is my favorite Warhammer story, and the performance was perfection itself. Incredible action, tightly plotted story, superb characters.

Amazing

Wish we had more white scars books. By far the most underrated legion in-lore. The khagan is such a levelheaded character

A great story with a great performance

John Banks does an amazing performance with each of the characters. Focusing heavily on what the White Scars have been up to was refreshing. A lot of justification and context is given to where they stand in the Horus Heresy.

only 1 issue

The only problem was the narrator struggling to separate space wolf and white scar accents while speaking. Not a huge problem though.

Narration Was a Let Down

Idk what was going on with Chris. I've listened to a few other books he narrated, and they were all fine. This time his performance was a big let down. MANY of the characters sound exactly the same and more than a few scenes with them all talking together.

Beyond the narration, the story was good overall. A few extremely odd descriptions of things, but I don't really get hung up over stuff like that.

If you're listening through the HH series, this book was one of the good ones. Not great, but good.

Not skippable

great listen, slow start with a strong ending. Tells a lot about the white scars and leads into their next part in the story

Got better as it went

Started slow and slog again but this one really pulled together towards the climax and added valuable information regarding several topics. I accept this book as a B+
