About this listen

A birthday to remember. But would they rather forget…?

Ralph is turning 45, and the only gift he wants is his ex-wife.

Gemma, his trophy girlfriend, won’t let anything ruin her plans for an engagement.

Sarah, the ex-wife, has agreed to attend Ralph’s party, with her new man in tow.

And Jack, her partner, will stop at nothing to keep Sarah out of her ex-husband’s clutches.

It’s a celebration like no other. The whole extended family in a villa on the beautiful Amalfi coast.
But by the end of the trip, two people will be dead.
At this birthday party to remember, will anybody unwrap the truth…?

Two weeks. Four guests. One party to die for.

A compulsive and twisty suspense thriller with an ending you won’t see coming, perfect for fans of Louise Candlish and Adele Parks…

Falls Short ⛰

There are a lot of people falling off cliffs here, and so did the story. Some books are so ridiculously far-fetched but entertaining enough to make it worth it; this isn’t one of those.

If a book is really good and really interesting, you don’t necessarily need humor or other distractions. This book isn’t really good or interesting. There are some glimmers of humor, but in a crazy plot like this, there should be more. For me, that would make this a decent listen. This might make me a dark, disturbed horse, but Ralph is the most entertaining character, and his narrator did a fantastic job. I just wish there was more dry humor.

I also wanted to care about what happened, but it just never grabbed me. It’s like this… Someone is killing people, but you don’t really care who is doing the killing (even though you pretty much know), and you don’t really care about the people that are dying. Hard-core I know, but this book elicited no emotional response whatsoever. Character development was slim to none.

In terms of the mystery and substance, there are some half-hearted attempts to throw suspicion at someone else, but that is pretty weak. Also, you can miss a lot of this book and not really miss much (in case you fall asleep, get distracted, etc).

On a more positive note, the narrators were good, no problem there. It Is a unique story with potential, just falls short of being good.

Too Long,.. Too Long.. TOO LONG!!!!

Yikes,.. that was agony.!!.. As if it wasn’t too long already,.. It was compounded by choppy narrative,.. a cast of people speaking for a few seconds at a time,.. with the interruption of “ chapter number, etc”..
every few seconds or minutes.
Where was the editor I ask you.?????

Horrible

Boring. You never get to know or like or dislike any of the characters. Story drags on and on and is very predictable! Don’t waste your credit!
