Acerca de esta escucha

With a body as solid as his reputation, private investigator Drey St. John never dreamed helping the Braddocks discover the truth behind their father's fatal crash would lead to his own mother's shocking confession: Senator Braddock was Drey's biological father. Determined to solve the case, Drey enlisted all-work-and-no-play Charlene Anderson's help. But the more time he spent with the beautiful forensic scientist, the more he realized their sharp banter fronted a simmering mutual attraction that wouldn't be denied.

Charlene's career left no time for exotic playboys. Then she found herself under Drey's roof, in need of his protection - and a victim of his seductive charms. But when the late senator's secrets - and Drey's true identity - were uncovered, would Drey face the betrayals in his past, and his future as a Braddock, with Charlene by his side?

What did you love best about The Object of His Protection?

I liked that Drey was torn between doing his job and protecting his mother. He also had a inner fear that the new family would not except him but being the manly man he was he could not face that but Charlene saw through the brave front.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I've always liked mystery and suspense. I tried to figure it out before it was revealed. I was right. I would love to go digging around and try to uncover evidict to solve a crime.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Quincy Tyler Bernstein?

Yes, she was pretty good.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Drey discovered that Charlene is a virgin he continued to make her first time special. And kept his word to please her throughout the night.

Evidently the author ran out of words to use because every other word was “evidently”. That kinda got on my nerves. Other than that, the story was ok but took a little long to get to the point. The narrator was cool, I’ve listened to her in other books and enjoyed her as well.

You can’t go wrong with Ms Jackson if you want a romantic read - or listen in this case. The narrator has a southern drawl but it worked with a setting in Houston. Her (his?) voice fit very well with the the story. This is worth a download from the Romance package.

Great story and narration

I have been waiting years for harlequin to release some of Brenda Jackson's books on audible. This particular title is part of a series but stands on it's on. The romance is dead on and the suspense is just as awesome. You can't go wrong with this book - enjoy!

Finally - Brenda Jackson on Audible!

This was a sweet little love story with a bit of mystery. I'm a huge Brenda Jackson fan and I love everything she writes. The narrator did a good job bringing this story to life but I still prefer Ron Butler when listening to a BJ book.

Short But Sweet

Brenda's a great writer but her books are kind of wham baam! I enjoyed the read but wasnt ready for it to be over :-). I just happened to get two of her books with the character in the same "state" which I thought was odd as well.

Good..but I feel I need more.

I am a fan but as many books as Mrs. Jackson has out and I've read she is staeri g to seem like a one tick pony. This is sad, because I really do like her. It seems to me that all her stories are predictable. I have almost all of her books.

it was ok.

I enjoyed this listen. And the ethnic voice quality of the reader was a treat. The other 2 by Brenda jackson, however, have readers who you couldn't imagine being black. It's a distracting turn off. The richness of the actual voice quality is not there. Just as only a few male readers make the female's sound right and only a few female readers make the males sound right. It's not the speach pattern, it's the voice quality. But, at least they make their respective characters sound like a male or a female. In most other non- ethnic books that happen to have a latino or black character in them the readers think trying to use some stereo typical speach pattern makes the character ethnic (many non ethnic writers, write these characters that way too.) I appreciate that these readers didn't try to adopt some stereo typical accents or speach pattern. But, wow, the quality and tember of their actual voices is no where near what it would be for the typical black person. So, my mind can't see what I'm reading. I can't get a mental picture. Just as when most people hear radio announcers they get an image of what the person looks like (even if it's completely wrong) my mind can't put these voices on black faces.

Entertaining
