Publisher's summary

When Loren meets Jack, she’s sure he’s the man she’s been waiting for - a perfect husband and father for her young daughter. Shortly after their wedding, their plans to start a life together are put on hold when the couple receives word that Jack’s father has died.

In an effort to appease her new husband, Loren invites her mother-in-law, Coralee, to stay with them while she grieves. When strange things begin to occur just after her arrival, Loren questions how much she knows about the woman she invited into her home.

One calculated move after the next, Coralee attempts to drive a wedge between Loren and her new husband. Jack believes his mother’s strange behavior is just further proof she needs their help, but Loren isn’t so sure. As Coralee’s actions become increasingly sinister, Loren is pushed to her breaking point, and she realizes she must do whatever it takes to get rid of her mother-in-law for good.

A Predictable Villan

You knew from the title and the author that this would end badly. Sometimes for revenge a woman can scheme for years. The husband/son was so gullible it made my teeth hurt. His mother was so horrible, she set my teeth on edge.

Unexpected twists and turns

I found the author on TikTok and I just knew the book was going to be good. I loved the story I finished it in just days. The narrator did get kinda annoying at some points and it took away from the story but overall amazing story would definitely recommend to a friend.

AWESOME 😎 👏

This book was one of the best I’ve read in months.
I loved the narration. The storyline was brilliant. The twist was so unexpected ~ brilliant!!! I found it a little eery in some places which I loved. Definitely worth a credit. I’ll probably read it again in about a year. Love this author. Great job! Thank you so much for entertaining me.

Excellent

This author never misses. Always on the edge of my seat and talking back I’m my car when listening :)

Story was good but…

The main character is supposed to be 27 years old , but the narrator sounded much, much older . I should have read a hard copy.

Ending

Ending was too abrupt but the content was good. Would recommend to others and the storytelling was great!

Omg! Soo creepy!

If you are new to Kiersten Modglin’s books I would totally suggest this as an intro… if you’ve read a few then you know she is the queen of real life creep! Christa Lewis narrated this book amazingly! Loved her MIL voice as well as her regular narration… such a good book! I had to listen straight through without stopping!

Good Story...but Overly Dramatic Narration

Although I enjoyed the story for the most part, I think I would have been better off reading it myself. The narrator was so breathy and dramatic with the main character that I found myself laughing out loud at serious moments or rolling my eyes. It almost made me dislike what should have been a very sympathetic character. Wish I had saved my Audible credit and actually read the book!

tricky one to review

When you listening, the plot keeps you hooked as to what will happen next. But on the other hand, it's quite a ridiculous story. And in my opinion, it would have been much better with a narrator who didn't have such a whiny voice, it really bothered me. I would have given up listening early into the story, but as I said, I wanted to know what happened next...

Not realistic

Interesting plot. It held my attention with the suspense but not realistic. Several questions should have been asked and explained by Lauren.
