About this listen

An unprecedented look at how the Mormon faith has shaped some of today’s most successful CEOs and businessmen.

The Founder of JetBlue. The CEO of Dell Computers. The CEO of Deloitte & Touche. The Dean of the Harvard Business School. They all have one thing in common. They are devout Mormons who spend their Sundays exclusively with their families, never work long hours, and always put their spouses and children first. How do they do it?

Now, critically acclaimed author and investigative journalist Jeff Benedict (a Mormon himself) examines these highly successful business execs and discovers how their beliefs have influenced them and enabled them to achieve incredible success. With original interviews and unparalleled access, Benedict shares what truly drives these individuals and the invaluable life lessons from which anyone can benefit.

Critic reviews

"Religious beliefs notwithstanding, the examples here prove that leadership that values the human element and does not compromise integrity and the environment does not equate to a competitive disadvantage but rather the opposite." ( Booklist)

Very well written and explained. A must read LDS or not!

This was a very well put together book. No matter if your LDS or not this is a read that will help you feel encouraged and motivated to do more! Take the time to listen to the book all the way through and think about everything you hear. You will not go wrong with this book!

Living their religion

I enjoyed this book. I like learning of people who live their standards in all aspects of their life. No one is perfect, but their example helps me.

The only reason I have this review less than 5 stars was that it sounded like many of the sentences were cut at the very end. it was distracting. Otherwise ,5 stars.

Great book! (A note for working women)

I’m a working mom. Now this book doesn’t necessarily encourage working moms, like the Latter-day Saint faith, it encourages women to stay at home and raise children during their younger years. I have tried that and it flat out is just not a good dynamic for me and my family to be a SAHM. This book helped me discover a balance between working my part time job and raise my children. It helped me discover exactly what I wanted: how to balance being a working mom with staying on top of my business as a business owner. I’ll be implementing the no working or thinking of work after a certain time of day, we already implement the no business whatsoever on Sundays, and it encourages me to continue praying and working with my Heavenly Father.

The only “con” of the book is it seemed like some of the sentences were cut off before they were finished. Idk what was going on in the audio but it sounded a little funny.

Overall, a fantastic audio book and I bought the paperback version so my husband could read it too.

Gripping

A must read for those who seek "success" outside the home while trying to balance life. I couldn't put it down. I will definitely seek out other titles written by this author.

Little book goes a long way

Amazing how the author provides a wealth of information and doesn’t take 10 hours to do it. As a Christian but not LDS I was drawn to this book thru long term friendships and business dealing with LDS members. It will now be required reading for my up and coming company leaders.

The Newbie

I thoroughly enjoyed the insight of these individuals. I am young and starting to get traction in my firm to someday be an executive. In this role I am finding some challenges in balancing family, work, and church. I took away a few good concepts and set goals to help me develop not just within business but within my personal and spiritual life.

Great Book

For me it was worth a second listen! You will enjoy learning from these wise decision makers. These men credit parts of their sucess in part by living within the guidelines, and drawing strength from the LDS faith. A good read for anyone since the studied men were fairly open about their challenges and the process they went through when making difficult decisions.

Be both

I always felt guilty being more business focused than gospel focused. But I do believe the Lord meets is where we’re at, and teaches us there. This book helped me see that I can and should be both and that they are not mutually exclusive.
