About this listen

He's a player in more ways than one....

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hookups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he'll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he's worth a second chance. Now he's going to need to up his game....

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She's not a charity case, and she's not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He'll have to work for it. This time around, she'll be the one in the driver's seat, and she plans on driving him wild.

love these books

I love this series of books. The male narrater was perfect, the female... not so much. She has a very mousey nasely voice. It made Grace sound stuck up almost or valley girl, which she was the complete opposite of. overall great listen!

Great second story, but not an easy listen

I enjoyed the first in this series, especially with the male narration. So it seemed like a good idea to try the second. I did enjoy it and I thought it was a great follow up. I loved John Logan and thought Grace was perfect for him. I also tend to enjoy stories that are not your typical, they fall in love and then a few chapters from the end they break up or fall out and then get back together for their HEA. While this did have some of that, it wasn't like that. It was nice.

The thing I really didn't enjoy was the narration. I thought Lee Samuels was fantastic. I loved him as Logan and found him to be very believable. However, Lorelei Avalon just wasn't Grace for me. Perhaps part of the problem was listening to Ava Erickson as a college girl in another book and I think she would have been perfect for Grace. Every time a new chapter started I cringed when it was the female. I have to admit I'm glad she hasn't done the other two.

Worth the credit? Yeah, I think it was. I did like the story. For me, the sign of a great one, is would I go back and listen again? If it was a different female narrator I would love listening to it over and over, but sadly, I think this may be the only time I do.

Love those hockey hunks!

This second book in the Off Campus series is the sweet story of Logan and Grace. Low angst, minor drama, some laugh out loud side characters and this book was just what I wanted. Definitely sexy and steamy for a college romance but with a really great storyline and characters you can’t help but love. Lorelei Avalon and Lee Samuels were perfectly cast and nailed the performance. Running to start the next book in the series.

Love a little John Logan

I was obsessed with The Deal so I had to continue on to The Mistake. I wish I had read the book instead of listening. No offense to the readers, the male reader was great, but I really struggled with the female voice. I almost switched to the book midway through, she gets better, but just something I had trouble with.

The actual story is great! I'm really loving the connection of the friends and will be moving on to the next book.

Female narrator?

I enjoyed story. Make narration good, but female narrative voice has slightly annoying nasal quality to it. Towards the mid-end I had to skip forward to next chapter beyond female narration to finish book. Otherwise, good book.

A sweet slow build love story

So, I love Garrett and he is still my favorite. But, Logan is a sweetheart. Although, I love a good sexually charged romance, this one takes a while for that to happen. But, it makes sense based on Logan's back story. We want him to earn his chance with Grace and he does! Such a great love story. And I REALLY enjoyed Lee Samuels.

Great addition to one of my fave new adult series!

After first loving The Mistake when I read it as an ebook, I decided to dive in again on audio for a reread. And guess what? I loved it just as much the second time around.

The first book in Elle Kennedy’s Off-Campus series, The Deal, is everything I love about new adult lit and more. It was different than a lot of the NA out there. It took chances. I loved the characters. I couldn’t wait to see how Elle would follow up that fantastic book and if I could possibly love Grace and Logan as much as I did Hannah and Garrett. And you know what? I totally did.

Logan could see his future very clearly. He had an agreement with his older brother that, once he graduated college, he would return home to the family business – and taking care of their disabled, alcoholic father – while his brother got an opportunity to live his life. His future was bleak, so he was living it up while he could. He loved hockey and wanted nothing more than to have the chance to go pro, but he owed it to his father and his brother. His dreams would have to take a backseat. He wasn’t really ok with that, but he’d resigned himself to it. So, he did whatever he wanted in college. Of course, that included a lot of drinking and hooking up. But all that began to change when he met Grace. He realized he did want more out of life.

I freaking adored Grace. She might’ve been a virgin, but she wasn’t the cliched version I’m accustomed to seeing in books. She wasn’t prudish or unrealistically innocent. She was just a real girl. She was also spunky and didn’t take any of Logan’s crap, which I loved. As great of a guy as he was, he didn’t always make good choices and she wasn’t going to let him walk all over her. I love a girl who doesn’t accept less than what she deserve. Case in point, when her “best friend” Ramona behaves abhorrently, she doesn’t mince words and accept her apology as to not ruffle feathers. It’s not often that I find a female character who is this strong, this honest and who doesn’t come off bitchy or unlikable.

I loved Logan and Grace together. I liked how they each grew together. They really found themselves while finding each other. I loved their banter. They had a ton of chemistry right from the very start – even if they started off a bit unconventionally. The sexy times were hot. Logan gave me the swoony moments I most want from a book boyfriend and I found myself getting emotional as things played out in the book. I was definitely wrapped up in these characters and their story.

The Mistake was a fantastic follow-up to The Deal. This series has rapidly become one of my favorite new adult romance series and one that I talk about incessantly. It’s smart, sexy and has real characters who deal with believable situations. It’s not always pretty. They’re not perfect. I enjoy how these books deal with relationships, friendships and the family dynamic. I love a good bromance and this series absolutely has that.

When it comes to the audio performance, I thought Lorelei Avalon did a fantastic job voicing both Grace and Logan. Her narration was spot on — especially when it came to Grace — and that's a big part of why I loved it as much (or maybe more?) on the second go round.

Lorelei Avalon ruins the experience

I love this series. I love the Male narrators, but I cant stand listening to that raspy female voice. she pronounces groveling gruh-veling and details duh-tails. it drives me crazy. Shes so awful. her voice literally irks me. It's awful. please I am BEGGING audible to get a different female and re record this book.

Love the story.

Look, the story is great. The male narration is great. But the female narration in this particular book just ruins it for me. She may be fantastic in other books, but in my opinion it didn’t work well for this book. But I love the book all the same.
