Publisher's summary

The ninth audiobook in Winston Graham's classic Poldark saga, now a major TV series from Masterpiece PBS.

Cornwall, 1812

At Nampara, the Poldark family finds the new year brings involvement in more than one unexpected venture. For Ross and Demelza, there is some surprising - and worrying - news. And Clowance, newly returned from her London triumphs, finds that her entanglement with Stephen Carrington brings not only happiness, but heartache.

As the armies battle in Spain and the political situation at home becomes daily more obscure, the Poldark and Warleggan families find themselves thrust into a turbulent new era as complex and changing as the patterns of the Miller's Dance....

In his Poldark series, Winston Graham explores the complications of love lost and the class struggle of early 19th-century England with a light, comic touch. The Miller's Dance is followed by the 10th audiobook in the series, The Loving Cup.

Too much recapping

Love this narrator! This was my least favorite so far. Too much recapping from previous books.

Superb narration and story

Any one who is a fan of Ross and Demelza Poldark and co. will eagerly listen to the highs and lows of their children. And once again, Mr. Hembrough does not disappoint. He is wonderful with the voices and has such a lively way of narrating the story.

Love love love Poldark series

All of the books are well written and engaging. After a few words I’m transported to beautiful Cornwall. I have 2 more left and will read them again. Character development is so perfect. Also. The narrator Oliver Hembrough is one of the very best I have heard. Read this series!!!!

Romance, Intrigue, can’t stop listening!

Once again Oliver Hembrough amazes me with his uncanny ability to narrate different voices including men, women and children. He flows seamlessly between Cornish lower and upper class accents as well! He brings the characters to life!

Great addition to the Poldark series!

I've been blazing through the Poldark books, and while nothing compares to the first one, the rest are really enjoyable. The overall pace and plot twists vary throughout the series, but I found The Miller's Dance to be one of the better installments. Graham's grasp of character development and human psychology is excellent and is one of the main points that draw me back for each new addition. Some of the expedition is a tiny bit tiresome, Ross and Demelza being reduced to the family elder positions do a bit too much reminiscing and "telling", but its as acceptable as is the historical events "telling". What's good about the series is so good it far out weighs the humdrum.

Bravo!

It's been months and I am starting book twelve after reading The Twisted Sword. I am spell bound and full of the emotions of the characters in this incredible story of the Poldark family and people in the lives. I am most enjoying the historical timeline of the series with details I find myself looking further into. Bravo!

Another Fantasic Story

I loved hearing about the Poldark adult children and other charcters' grown children and how they behaved and interacted. I can imagine at times where this is leading, especially with Valentine. Makes me wonder if I'm correct. A wonderful performance. So well done, I felt like I was watching a movie!
