About this listen
1347 Hidden Hollows Road.
It’s a place of refuge for Lila Anderson who is heartbroken over her cheating boyfriend. She needs to get away and heal from the pain. And it seems like the perfect spot to hide away from the world.
The problem is, the big house doesn’t want her to rest. There are strange sounds coming from the attic, and the door at the end of the hallway…the one that is always supposed to be locked…likes to open on its own.
A mystery lies within the swampy grass outside, where the dark water holds a secret that threatens to break through.
Beware of the marsh.

Not Typical!
The Marsh by Sara Brooke grabbed my attention from the beginning. Meghan Kelly narrates this book and is perfect. I loved how the author wrote the twists and turns. Kudos to the author for the ending! I did not see that coming.

Greed, collusion and corruption
This was super creepy. Something was always popping up that was strange and scary. It's all too true that you can't judge a book by its' cover. Lila was an extremely poor judge of character. She missed the mark by a mile. She didn't give up her quest to solve the mystery regardless of danger and accidents, and she came very close to death a few times. I believe her perseverance is the only reason she got answers. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion.
The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life. Good expression.

A ghostly stunner!
Part ghost story, part mystery, part thriller with a decidedly noir feel, and a healthy dose of the occult, “The Marsh” is an enthralling, mesmerizing listen that not only kept me completely engaged, but gave me a fantastic case of the shivers! The plot drew me in, lulled me into a false sense of “I know where this is going” and then masterfully, had my jaw hitting the floor! I’m giving no details, no spoilers, just know that the writing is clean, the flow is smooth, everything you need to know is there, and by story’s end all questions will have been answered! The characters are wonderfully defined, some likable, some not, and a few deliciously other worldly! The narration is spectacular! The feeling, the “mood”, of the story is beautifully conveyed, giving me the shivers! The character voicing is incredible and the emotion imparted stunning! I knew who was speaking, AND what they were feeling at every moment with every single character uniquely represented! The scenes came vibrantly alive as I listened, making the author’s vision a stunning, beautifully reality and I loved it! Five fantastic stars!

The Marsh
Wow the story really stuck with me! And once I started it was a quick listen I didn’t want to put down. I love the twists and turns and did not see it playing out the way it did! I must say I can’t remember the lady’s name that was best friends with the little girls mom, but she was so rude and could have handled that much better Lila was an innocent bystanders and apparently had the worst luck!!! And she made the situation worse and more awkward. I don’t want to spill any secrets so I’ll have to end with that and you’ll have to listen! Definitely worth it! Fantastic narration kept me on my toes!

Fantastically suspenseful!
I loved and enjoyed listening to this story! This storyline has mystery, intrigue, betrayal, and romance, some of my favorite combinations. The book kept me on the edge of my seat. I found it to be a very well thought out storyline.
The narrator does a fantastic job with the characters and voices of each character. She has a way of making you feel like you are in the story with the characters. I always love listening to her narrator a story, she is one of my favorite narrator’s.

Nice twists!
The Marsh is a combination of a ghost story, mystery and a bit of "professional" robbers and their cohorts. Lila caught her boyfriend, Greg, in bed with a lover and without saying a word, turned around and called it off. Not knowing where to go, she remembered that she had seen a flyer from a rental property offering a home in St. Augustine, FL, at 1347 Hidden Hollows Road. When she arrives, she can't help but wonder at the size and style of the house, but as it's sitting on mucky marshlands, why isn't there a fence to keep kids and animals safe! This house doesn't want her to relax because she hears noises during the day and night, sounds of things crashing in the house and sounds and lights coming from the attic. She knows that a little girl lost her life in the marsh behind the house, but she has no idea how much that little girl will reveal to her. It's a good premise with good bones, but there is something missing within the transitions, but I just can't put my finger on it. It's an interesting, rather freaky story and what makes this audiobook special is the narration by Meghan Kelly. She is a talented voice artist who I can rely on to bring the story to life in the best way.

Rivetingly suspenseful!
After a painful betrayal and breakup, Lila Anderson heads to a rental house in a secluded Saint Augustine neighborhood. She immediately gets pulled into the dark mood of the house and quickly gets further engrossed in its secrets. She’s having strange nightmares and is compelled to find out what happened to the family. She is threatened and her life is in peril but she persists. Lila is a relatable character, but her desire to heal actually drags her even further into the morass (literally and figuratively). I don’t usually read this genre (horror suspense) but I had to try it because it is narrated by Meghan Kelly, one of my favorite narrators. Ms. Kelly’s performances was outstanding. She created unique voices for all the characters and set the perfect tone and atmosphere appropriate for the different parts of the story (whether it be scary, menacing, spooky, horrific etc). Even though I was frightened and on the edge of my seat, I could not stop listening. I am sure to have bad dreams tonight, but it was worth it! I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.
