This should be the first book...

Was sooo amazing, wish I listen to this book first. To me it felt like watching the first movie to a trilogy and finally understanding what's going on. If you have not started the series yet..start with this one. Meant to be the last book but should have been the first.

good book.

Even though this is book 4 it is really more like a prequel if you go chronologically but it really is better listen to in order.

loved it!

a prequel to the first three books, this tells the story of steps the oracle took to help in the war 20 years before it happens.

the narrator had an amazingly soothing voice and I found myself not wanting to turn the book off. it absorbs you, making you wish for more. the writing is detailed enough that you can envision the scenes, but not so detailed that is a struggle to get through like the LOTR series.

Opened so much from the other series

This storyline helped unlock so much more of the story for the following timelines. These are the types of series I get excited about.

So very good. So very sad.

If you’ve read/listened to the first three books than the conclusion is not a mystery to you. It’s a far better story than Romeo & Juliet. It is one of the best romance/adventure stories I’ve ever heard. If you haven’t. Spoiler’s incoming.

They die in the end. It has meaning though. It’s not the GOT type random slaughter that kills off the heroes and heroines for seemingly pointless filler. It’s just sad that you spend the entire book getting to know two very pure characters that are destined to die. I will emphasize that their death has meaning but it’s so very heartbreaking to see the events coming to a conclusion. If the first three books had been written this well, It would have rivaled any fantasy epic I’ve ever read. It embodies the very best of the genre. The first three books have a lot of juvenile BS between the love interest, to the point it is very unbelievable. This book however. It seems as though the author tossed plot devices and everything felt natural. Especially when you understand why the Oracle did things in the order she did. The physical relationship was still far too long in coming but, it made sense in its timing. I can’t say the same for the first three books. It’s like the author didn’t come into his craft until the last book and used naivety as a crutch to avoid interpersonal relationships in the first three books. I’m not asking for soft core porn, just an acknowledgment of reality. There is no sane human male who would blow off and ignore a beautiful elf maiden devoted to him for a decade. The hero/MC in the first three books is portrayed as an idiot in many ways. You find nothing like that in this book. It’s a believable, engaging, emotionally stimulating story that gives you hope and peace in the end. I wish all stories in this genre were as well done.
