About this listen

The journey that began in The Shadow of What Was Lost and continued in An Echo of Things to Come now comes to its spectacular conclusion in The Light of All That Falls, the final chapter of the Licanius Trilogy by acclaimed epic fantasy author James Islington.

After a savage battle, the Boundary is whole again - but it may be too late. Banes now stalk the lands of Andarra, and the Venerate have gathered their armies for a final, crushing blow.

In Ilin Illan, Wirr fights to maintain a precarious alliance between Andarra's factions of power. With dark forces closing in on the capital, if he cannot succeed, the war is lost.

Imprisoned and alone in a strange land, Davian is pitted against the remaining Venerate. As he tries to keep them from undoing Asha's sacrifice, he struggles to come to terms with his own path and all he has learned about Caeden, the friend he chose to set free.

And finally, Caeden is confronted with the reality of a plan laid centuries ago - heartbroken at how it started and devastated by how it must end.

The best time travel story of all time - essentially flawless

Most stories involving any time travel stuffer from logical inconsistencies because their authors cannot accept inevitability— their arrogance causes them to commit atrocities (usually by creating a horrible story rather than releasing the dark lands on world). The fact the characters struggles with fate vs. free will with the reader is what makes The Light of All That Falls so good!

Flawless conclusion

Hands down one of the greatest fantasy books of all time. Every single moment is keyed to resolve into one of the most satisfying experiences you could ever have.

One of my new favorites

I'll be recommending this to any of my acquaintances that are looking for GOOD fantasy.

It hit all of the beats I wanted it to, in a very entertaining and satisfying fashion.

Spectacular and Amazing

This is hands down one of the best fantasy novels ever written. It provides a heart wrenching and thought provoking end to an amazing trilogy. Michael Kramer injects life and emotion into the characters that will make you forget the real world for just a bit.

Possibly one of the best conclusions ever.

I’ve read and listened to hundreds of books and I’ve got to say the story is pretty top tier, however, the conclusion of the series is one of, if not the most satisfying and fulfilling endings I’ve experienced.

absolutely incredible

I love the first two books to the licanius trilogy so I was not only excited to listen to the third, but worried. I've seen many trilogies ruined with the conclusion. although reluctant to begin the listen, once I did I lost myself into the story more deeply then I have with even the wheel of time or the red rising books. this book was the best end to a trilogy I have ever experienced. loved it and would love to see much more from james islington in the future.

Good story!

Loved that the author keeps the time travel rules consistent throughout the trilogy and wraps up those plot points at the end.

Best ending there could have been!!

Fantastic ending to a great trilogy. I’m regularly disappointed by the way a series ends, but this was worth all of the time spent listening to it. Perfect!!

excellent!

probably my favorite book in the trilogy- super well one. The ending was supremely awesome. I wish there were some more things that we knew about- a couple mysteries and stories left standing. But the time travel and stuff was really awesome. I was sad to see it end- the whole thing they were fighting wasn't always clear as to how evil it was but the character development was excellent, and it was just sad to see the characters go. over all a fantastic read.
