Publisher's summary

When the EMP strikes, how far will you go to protect the ones you love?

A month has passed since a devastating EMP ravaged the nation's power supplies.

Jack and his family are surviving on a sustainable farm in the middle of the countryside. Reunited with people he never thought he'd see again, Jack is determined to do all he can not to lose them once more.

Logan and Emma are seeking shelter of their own. When they discover an idyllic farm in a perfect location, Logan is determined to make it their home - at any cost.

But when a tense standoff spirals into tragedy, the two groups are locked into a ruthless conflict that threatens to tear them both apart. Just how far will both Jack and Logan go to protect those closest to them? And at what cost?

Alright

Story seemed a little lacking, Logan and Jack were very predictable and the surprise death at the end was disappointing. I felt that the character’s story arc was just beginning and then abruptly cut off.

Dissapointing

I was looking forward to continuing this story but this installment was trash. Huge character swing for Jack without much explanation why. The constant nagging from each character had me fast forwarding . Can’t believe I made it through to the end

Rooting for the wrong guy

This is the 3rd book in the series I have got to, as the previous 2 kept me mildly interested as I wanted to see where the story lead. In short no where, in the beginning the farm the middle the farm and the end the farm. The whole time I was thinking in the previous books that Jack and Logan would meet up and be some dynamic duo, boy was I wrong I did however find that I was rooting for Logan as he seemed like the guy who was right and he had been saving people even though no one gave him a chance but some little girl. Without trying to ruin too much I was hoping that Logan fi wished the job as I can't really stand Jack all the much.

In summary read it if your looking for something but don't know what because if you never end up finishing it there won't be much of a loss.

soap opera

i listened to the first two for free and hoped the author was just talking a while to set the stage. This was just bad. Just a bunch of people creating idiotic problems for themselves and CONSTANTLY agonizing about EVERY decision.

Rough... really rough

couldn't get through it. it reads like a personal fan fiction of a slighted teenage loner who dreams of an apocalypse to justify a terrifyingly dark world view.

Disappointment

The story was really not at all satisfying nor realistic. It’s just not at all what you’d expect after a civilization ending EMP. Jack and crew simply moved into the farm, and mostly continued their lives. Yes, there was conflict, but the conflict didn’t seem realistic, either. No discussion at all about what you’d expect with the power out forever. I also found myself not caring one bit about any of the characters, except maybe Mrs. Fuzzles. I returned the book.
