About this listen

Few other issues have separated the church more than the issue of tongues. Sam Storms focuses on this controversial subject with his signature insights to theology and the gifts of the spirit. What does the gift giver say about the gift He gave?

Storms seeks to bring balance to this subject in The Language of Heaven as he wrestles with this sensitive issue experientially as well as theologically. He ultimately provides a platform to allow God to speak for Himself as he addresses every text of Scripture on the subject and engages with every theological issue that speaking in tongues provokes. As a pastor, Storms knows the questions that the typical churchgoer is asking and provides clear and accessible answers to them all, including:

  • Is the gift of tongues for every Christian or only some?
  • How does the gift of tongues operate in the life of the believer individually in private practice?
  • How does the gift of tongues operate in the corporate assembly of God's church?

Remember, God gives only good gifts, and it is His intention that His church utilize all that He has provided, so that we might experience all that He is.

Great blessing and revelation

I found this book wonderful on revealing one of the great gift of the Holy Spirit and open my eye how to use my gift of speaking in tongues.
God bless you and your family for this fantastic work.

Good Stuff!

I enjoyed it a great deal. The only thing that bothered me was the narrator continuously saying "ReLavatory' rather than "ReVelatory". Surely the author used the correct word,in which case the narrator mispronounced it every single time.
He also tells a story at the end of 2 people who experienced speaking in tongues by involuntary takeover of their mouths. I thought the Holy Spirit did not work that way.

Well thought out perspective.

I appreciate the authors transparency in writing this book. The fact that he came from cessasionist background and moved toward a continuationist belief system is well documented in this book. Tons of scriptural examples and historical figures used to write this book. Well done.

Deep and scriptural analysis of this subject!

if you are considering this subject with a surrendered heart towards the Lord God and seeking His will as revealed in scripture, I highly recommend this book.

The story of the authors experience with tongues.

I grew up a secessionist myself. What intrigued me most about this book is the authors past and now he was the same and yet changed. I do think there were a couple of liberties taken with some scripture, but overall was a very biblical look at this topic.

Good content, hard to stay focused.

I struggled to finish it for two reasons: the narration needs to be improved and there is too much repetition on arguments. I even sometimes had to check if I wasn't listening to the same spot again.

it can certainly be shortened.

Good content, terrible narration

The narrator is wooden, almost mechanical in his delivery. This makes it hard to stay focused on the content, which is very good. I should have ordered this as a paperback.
