About this listen
I thought he took my secret to the grave. But the truth can’t stay buried forever....
In the wake of my darling husband’s death, I am so lucky to have my three beautiful, grown-up daughters by my side at our holiday home in Scotland. We need some time together to recover from the shock. But I also need to set some things straight about their beloved father....
I’ve always known this house was the perfect place to bury secrets–remote, isolated, surrounded by nothing but miles of dense forest.
But this time, I’m not here to hide more of my lies. I’m here to expose one.
I promise everything I’ve ever done has been to protect my daughters. I just hope they understand that too.
By the end of the trip, nothing will ever be the same again. I knew revealing the truth about the inheritance would have consequences, but I could never have imagined we wouldn’t all survive it.
And now that the truth is out, am I in danger too?
A totally gripping psychological thriller from an Amazon best seller that will have your head spinning and your jaw on the floor with every twist. Fans of The Housemaid, Gone Girl, and The Family Upstairs won’t be able to hit pause.

Alice has everything, I mean everything. A stunning suburban house, Instagram-perfect in its soft grey walls and textured neutrals. And then there's her handsome husband, with his flat stomach and that sexy sleeve of tattoos he keeps hidden for his well-paid job in the city. The PTA mamas can't stop staring at him, and who can blame them? And let's not forget her three adorable, well-behaved children. My husband is a doctor. He’s smart and charming, and everybody trusts him. Except me. On the surface, it looks like I have it all–the perfect marriage, the perfect husband, the perfect life. But it’s far from the truth. Doctor Drew Devlin is not the respectable figure he makes out to be. The reason we moved to this beautiful, old property with a gorgeous view of the sea was because we needed to put our past behind us. It should’ve been a fresh start for us both.

Story
When a young man is found gruesomely murdered in a London houseboat, it triggers questions about three women who knew him. Laura is the troubled one-night-stand last seen in the victim’s home. Carla is his grief-stricken aunt, already mourning the recent death of yet another family member. And Miriam is the nosy neighbor clearly keeping secrets from the police. Three women with separate connections to the victim. Three women who are – for different reasons – simmering with resentment. Who are, whether they know it or not, burning to right the wrongs done to them.

She told me she was the housekeeper, and who was I to question? Our stay in this perfectly renovated Victorian house on the rich side of Hastings was a favour from an old school friend while the fire damage to our own little place was being fixed. This is not my house, and they are not my rules. So I step aside, and I let her in. Am I paranoid to think that she’s watching my every move? I’ve been married to my kind, loving husband Lachlan for over twenty years. He’s my everything. We have two teenage children, a beautiful home and I feel so lucky to live this perfect life. Until my best friend says something that makes me doubt everything… She whispers it’s strange Lachlan has lived nearby to two unsolved murder cases. First, the murder of the woman in the small, Scottish village where he grew up and more recently the shocking death of a woman who lived round the corner from us. The thought makes my head spin. It’s just a coincidence, surely?

Not Bad
The story wasn’t bad. My mind trailed a little in parts. There weee a few twists for me that surprised me but it was just ok for me. I figured the wrong person raped Bea so that surprised me. Same with how it all ended. Had I been Connie I would have left her husband. He is the pot calling the kettle black and deep down she knew it.

The story was good until the end. The ending seemed to be less thought out than the rest of the story, not believable to me.

Every now and then, it’s just not the right time…
Narrator Tamsin Kennard is my audiction and the reason I chose this. I started “The Inheritance” more than a few times and now I know why. Moving along at a slow pace, I was at the corner of Confusion and Disappointment. Through several fast-forwards, I managed to finish it.

Boring
How this book got into the thriller/suspenseful category is beyond me. It’s a family drama and not a compelling one. I stopped listening with about five hours left, because I just could not care anymore. Don’t waste your credit.
