About this listen
From the host of the popular podcast Terrible, Thanks for Asking comes a wise, humorous road map and caring resource for anyone going through the loss of a loved one - or even a difficult life moment.
In the span of a few weeks, 30-something Nora McInerny had a miscarriage, lost her father to cancer, and lost her husband due to a brain tumor. Her life fell apart.
What Nora discovered during this dark time is that when you’re in these hard moments, it can feel impossible to feel like even a shadow of the person you once were. People will give you all sorts of advice of how to hold on to your sanity and sense of self. But how exactly? How do you find that person again? Welcome to The Hot Young Widows Club, Nora’s response to the toughest questions about life’s biggest struggles.
The Hot Young Widows Club isn’t just for people who have lost a spouse but an essential tool for anyone who has gone through a major life struggle. Based on her own experiences and those of the listeners dedicated to her podcast, Terrible, Thanks for Asking, Nora offers wise, heartfelt, and often humorous advice to anyone navigating a painful period in his or her life. Full of practical guidance, Nora also reminds us that it’s still okay to laugh, despite your deep grief. She explores how listeners can educate the people around them on what to do, what to say, and how to best to lend their support.
Ultimately, this audiobook is a space for people to recognize that they aren’t alone and to learn how to get through life’s hardest moments with grace and humor and even hope.

He awakes in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a destination; it's a place where your life is explained to you by five people, some of whom you knew, others who may have been strangers. One by one, Eddie's five people revisit their connections to him on earth, illuminating the mysteries of his "meaningless" life.

Good read for a grieving widow.
This was like a manual I really needed at this time in my life. Thanks to this book, the fresh new feeling of my heart being ripped out of my chest after my partner died, didn’t have to feel so awful and isolating. It’s still hurts but now I understand I’ll be okay. This book is recommended to anyone whose lost a loved one.

So real
As a partner of a widow, this book was so refreshing. It was nice to see the similarities of the words in the pages to my girlfriend, but also, there was alot of new things that I learned that maybe would be to hard for her to share with me. thank you

someone at work pissed me off at work the other day when they said "you'll get married again someday you are young" I had to rant to my Facebook group. I lost my husband to covid-19 complications.. and this book was suggested to me. i feel a lot better. thank you.

The things you shouldn’t say
This book was extremely helpful for someone who has lost anyone, but also for those trying to possibly understand what loss can feel like. I appreciate how real the author is. She says things you’re “not supposed to say” and she made me feel normal. I am interested in her other works after listening to this.

Loved every minute
Anyone dealing with grief needs this book! Have listened to it twice so far and am already looking forward to the third time, I’ve taken something new from it each time and will continue to do so. It’s short, direct, light hearted, and what every sad human being needs!

I wish WISH WISH that my family and friends had reserved a copy after my Husband passed!!
Nora Mclnerny is hilarious, and touches the hard subject of death, in the mostly loving way

Thank you Nora
My husband died tragically 7 years ago and I so wish I had this book. Everything Nora said rang so true to me. I only wish it had been longer.
The best grief advice you can get.
