For eight years I've survived in this sh*thole once known as Earth, fighting the alien parasite that mutated most of the population into bloodthirsty freaks while the rest of us became the lunch special on their alien menu. Now things are changing, and not for the better. The parasite is evolving, becoming smarter, stronger, and deadlier. They've already stolen everything from me - my home, my family, even the man I loved. It's time for this bullsh*t to end once and for all.

Story
Refuge, New Hampshire, is a small town. The kind found on postcards. Their biggest concern is the rowdy summertime revelers making their way up from Massachusetts and New York. And with most of the town's residents in neighboring Ashland, for the Fourth of July fireworks show, Refuge is quieter than usual. That is, until the Baptist church's bell starts ringing - on its own. The bell chimes faster and faster, reaching a frenetic pace, as though rung by the Devil himself. But the bell is just the beginning.

I loved being a con man. Especially using my IT background to rig online poker to make money. But my dad got in trouble with the mafia, and now the head of the mafia, Frank Sputafuoco, wants me to do his dirty work. If I don't get him the millions of dollars he wanted by the end of the week, he said he'll kill my dad and rat me out to the feds. He sent Destiny to me to make sure I stuck to the plan and didn't try to pull one over them. I didn't know what she looked like when they first mentioned her to me. But after one look, I knew she had to be mine.

Well worth the small investment of time
What made the experience of listening to The Him Deep Down the most enjoyable?
It was a well-done story that, while not exceedingly long, manages to pack in a fair bit of storytelling. The narrator's performance took me a few minutes to get into, but once I did I completely enjoyed her work.
What other book might you compare The Him Deep Down to and why?
Hard to say. I don't read a lot of books like this.
Have you listened to any of Julie Hoverson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I had not heard this narrator before. Her performance was enjoyable and immersive. She did extremely well with the material.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes and probably could.
Any additional comments?
The author is a friend of mine and honestly that's why I read the book. Having said that, he does a wonderful job telling "another zombie story" that really isn't. The closest comparison I can make is the Walking Dead comic. The zombies are a prop for telling a story about people. Well worth your time and money.

Great Story but...
The narrator is remarkably annoying with some of the voices. A male narrator at the beginning would have done better justice to the characters. Glad I decided to power through.

Another fine tale from Mr. West!
What did you love best about The Him Deep Down?
It was written by Terry M. West and as always Terry writes a fine tale of horror.
What did you like best about this story?
Entertaining from beginning to end.
Have you listened to any of Julie Hoverson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, I did at times find her voice to be kind of nerve wracking. I believe a male narrator would have been better. But that's my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I listened to the whole thing from beginning to end.
Any additional comments?
The voice actor was very talented despite the times I found her to be a bit nervy.

Different Kind Of Zombie
I was given this book for free at my request and I am providing this honest review voluntarily.
A zombie apocalypse & a few survivors find that it's better to ask before you take & manners are very important in a zombie riddled world. One finds out that sometimes you need to stop protecting someone that's absolutely wrong, even if he's your brother. A lesson is learned, just because someone is old doesn't mean they are weak!
I really liked this story & wish it was longer! Really original story too with the zombie element.
The narrator did great with the voice of the old lady & the story telling narration, but the male voices lacked sounded forced to much. She did great with the southern draws too!
I definitely recommend this book!!

A zombie tale of the monster within
A zombie tale with a twist. Some of us have monsters within is. Some of us have a loved one who harbors that monster in them and since we love them we protect them and cover for their darkness. Some of us wear that monster right out in the open on our skin, what you see is what you get. This is a tale of all of those types. Well written and well narrated unique zombie story. Ugly, Stark, and Almost Perfect
Short and brutal, befitting a realistic zombie tale.
Downside: It's short. Upside: It's delightfully dark. I wish it could've gone longer, but I also can't see that adding much to the story. It's how a story should be told: long enough to tell the story you need, but not so long as to dilute its intensity. Well done, Lutzke and West.
