Publisher's summary

Stealing brides is a tradition....

In the Highlands, strength is the currency of choice and if you can't protect what is yours, be prepared to pay a ransom.

Annis is a prize. Born of a royal blood line, the fact that she's illegitimate isn't really important. With her mother gone, her kin barter her and send her off to Scotland where her husband's family is eager to see her produce heirs to their line with impeccable lineage.

Rolfe Munro is sick unto death of the topic of marriage. His marriage is one everyone seems to have an opinion of. So, when his father offers him the chance to escape the Munro stronghold for a bit, Rolfe happily takes the chore!

He's the son of the laird, and he'll have to settle down or risk leaving the clan in a fight when he dies. Still, he's not ready to steal a bride. Even when his fool cousin takes one and needs rescuing. Rolfe isn't going to get involved beyond making sure his cousin survives. That's his plan. At least until he lays eyes on Annis.

Annis is different. Her allure is something he can't put into words, or ignore it would seem.

By the time he escorts them to his cousin's stronghold, all Rolfe is thinking about is how to steal Annis away.

Very enjoyable

This book kept me interested and loved the narrator. I prefer male narrators. The story line was also good.

The main character’s positive outlook and the kind treatment from Rolfe.

As usual Timothy Campbell’s narration is incredible. He makes the story come to life. Of course one falls in love with Rolfe, but other male characters show promise as well. I hope we see them again in future books. The story was a sweet one.

Timothy Campbell and a wonderful story!

I love the narration of Timothy Campbell, and he delivered wonderfully with Ms. Wine's story. It made for a wonderful day by the fire with cups of fragrant ginger tea. She brought Scotland to life and Timothy gave it a voice. I recommend this for a wonderful excursion into the Highlands during the time of Elizabeth I and her elder sisters' son, James.

Good, but

The story was good, and I love Tim Campbell, but in this book, he seemed to be rushing thru it. I had to keep replaying parts to figure out what he was talking about. This is about my 20th book that Mr. Campbell has narrated. This is the first time I’ve had this trouble. I don’t know if it’s his fault, but it took me a long time to get through this book because of it however, I still love Tim Campbell’s Scottish brogue..

Disappointed

3rd book in the series and thus far it’s the worst. This story jumps around so much with characters that have nothing to do with the story. I did like the MH Rolfe, I’m thinking this should have been a shorter book and left out all the stuff about The Duncan going to court Benedicta death I think has no reason being in the book or at least not so much. Seemed like fillers pages. Not a good ending just set you up for the next book which seems alittle much when your getting charged $14 each for extra credits. Waste of my money.

Clumsy ending..required minimum pages to sell a book but no more

If you want to be satisfied with a great story don’t spend a credit on this one. The last paragraph is just a tease to buy the next in the series. Why continue a series of an outlined, boy meets girl, something keeps them apart, then when the required number of pages elapse, the predictable, ending leaves you wondering if the author is a computer with an algorithm choosing the words. I won’t suffer through another thinking it surely must get better. It doesn’t
