Publisher's summary

After proving himself on the field of battle, Ramon de Segrave is appointed to the Council of Barons by Richard the Lionheart. But instead of taking his most formidable warrior on his latest crusade, the king assigns Ramon an even more dangerous task - woo and win the lady of Thistle Keep.

Isabel of Camoys is a capable widow with no intention of surrendering her valuable estate. She's fought long and hard for her independence, and if the price is loneliness, then so be it. She will not yield, even if she does find the powerful knight's heated embrace impossible to ignore. But when her land is threatened, Isabel reluctantly agrees to allow Ramon and his army to defend the keep - knowing that the price may very well be her heart.

A Sword for his Lady

I hated to stop listening so I could sleep but sleep needed to happen. I loved the narrator's voice changes especially for the men. she did a good job.

I love the author. Need a different narrator.

Hated the narrator voice was to whiney and distracted from the story. I should have read it and not listened

Bad narrator!!

The story was alright didn’t care all that much for the narrator the voices seemed way to old for the characters. Female lead wasn’t that strong she came off as winning a lot but that could have been the narrator’s fault.

Mixed review,predictable plot,very light reading.

I think it must be difficult to write a story which hasn't already been written already. While I can empathize that this is any writer's struggle, I do occasionally encounter books which do not employ tired tropes that really grab my interest. Unfortunately, this tale is not one of those. However, I am thankful that there was nothing offensive (like gratuitous rape, sexual punishment, submissiveness, etc) in the publication. It seemed a very light read if that is what you are in the mood for. It helped that this writing was relatively short, only 11 or 12 chapters, and it delivers an HEA. I also liked that the female lead was a strong confident woman who was not a doormat although constrained by the rules of her time.

One other possible improvement would be a different narrator. It was not that she was a bad narrator but her voice sounded too mature for the characters she was depicting. While she does a good job of differentiating voices, her male voices sounded like gruff old men (not very appealing in the sex scenes). In closing, I would try future books by this author in hopes that this was a one off.
