Publisher's summary

One postman! Two postmen! Three postmen! All murdered!

John J. Malone sticks his nose into the case of the dead postmen and picks up a crack on the head, an Australian beer hound, and six redheaded twins. It all begins when he takes on a new client, Rodney Fairfaxx. Rodney was tabbed for the postmen murders because he hadn’t received a letter from a dead girl for more than 30 years. Malone doesn’t think that this is enough reason to kill, but he can’t prove it.

The Kind of Characters You Miss When it's Over

John J Malone, the "little lawyer" and his friends Helene and Jake Justus are just plan fun to be around. Malone, perpetually hard up, has an engaging habit of forgetting to ask his clients for a retainer. Helene is always fashionably, indeed alluringly, dressed and Jake, her nightclub-owning husband, never seems to be short of the right stuff. And the drinks, from beer and gin to straight bourbon, never seem to stop flowing; even a stray dog who attaches himself to Malone early on prefers beer to the more conventional water bowl.

With characters this fun, the story -- a finely-spun mystery -- is just an added bonus. As always, Johnny Heller does a great job, though I advise slowing him down to x.09 so you catch every quip and clue in Graig's screwball-comedy dialogue.

Wonderfully witty

Captivating from beginning to end. Every character is likeable, even the unlikable ones. With Pratchett-esque dialogue and a fast-paced whodunnit running along at full speed, you won’t want to stop listening for one second.
