Story
His mind raced...as he lay in the alley. Why was he there? Gavin knew two things - his name and he was wearing a tunic and pants. From beyond the alley, hustling city sounds were unfamiliar. The warmth of the sun on his neck and its position in the sky suggests it was mid-morning. The first choice he made, turning out of the alley, would change his fate. Marcus has led a full life, but he was sick of it. Six thousand years of magic, mayhem, and fighting other people’s wars has worn him out. Why wouldn’t people just leave him alone?

Story
Michael Freeman is a disabled veteran who had just been fired from his mind-numbing cubicle job, which allowed his opportunistic girlfriend to dump him. Now, he only wants to spend some time at his grandfather's mountain cabin so he can unwind, away from the drudgery of daily life and with a cold beer in his hands. Standing in his way is an ancient spaceship with an emotional AI, nanites that have invaded his body, an international crime syndicate, a suicidal FBI agent on a vigilante mission, terrorists . . . and that's just the beginning.

Story
First countries, then worlds no longer kept large standing armies. They preferred to hire mercenaries, spending their citizens’ money rather than their citizens’ lives. Governments found it more cost-effective to keep their populations working, continuing to pay taxes rather than dying on some battlefield. War became a business. As in times of old, owning a mercenary company became a way for the ordinary man to become wealthy...if he survived.

Fight, survive, adapt, and rely only on yourself. That is Derek’s creed and what's got him through the System Integration on Earth. Everything changed when the System came. Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. None of this mattered much to Derek, aside from making living a little more perilous.

Quicker is a near-future SciFi/Thriller whose young heroine, Ell Donsaii, is an intrepid athletic phenom who reminds one of David Weber's Honor Harrington. Like Stieg Larsson's Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Ell is also a mathematical genius who, instead of counting sheep, works on her own theory of quantum mechanics to help her drift off to sleep. At once shy and concerned about her social skills, yet well loved by those around her, she finds herself at the center of a terrorist plot at the Olympics.

All of this was because of the dragon stone necklace I scavenged from that dead mage. I knew it was magic when I saw it. Well, it was and it wasn’t. Dragon stone, they call it, but what it actually is, is a dragon’s egg. When I touched it, I felt the need to put it around my neck for safekeeping. When I did, the necklace embedded itself inside my skin, making me the new dragon’s envoy. It has since been my duty to protect the egg until she’s ready to hatch. How do I know the egg is a she? Easy, she talks to me and is helping me to bring out my natural magic talents.

A third of the length of the other books
I love these books but the first one was 13hrs long, this one being less than four really stunk. Still a good book, but I don't quite feel I got my money's worth.

Interesting
Well it seems like K close to the series it doesn’t feel fully satisfying feels like that one really good Christmas present was wrapped up in all of her and you can practically see what it is without opening it and it feels unsatisfying but it is an ending end it’s not entirely unsatisfying but it’s not what I feel is a great ending. I still like the story and and hope for more from the author.

Way too Short!
Yes, it tied up some things, but I was surprised just how short it was. The performance was outstanding, but it seemed like it was a flurry of issues, ending with “and they lived happily ever after.” Sort of like the author just got tired of the story line. Sort of like Game of Thrones.

It was a bit short
Well it did finish the story, and as the author stated that he does not like it when the story's ending leaves the reader listener expecting more, or a cliffhanger ending.
Still I purchased both the Kindle & Audible versions of the series. All four books.

Disappointed in this final book
The narrator does and excellent job. However, this ending book was much too short and seemed overly rushed. Wishing I had not listened to the final conclusion. The wrap up seem off like the author did not write it. Overall the space war book series was an enjoyable listening experience- just don’t buy or listen to this last book.

Disappointing Ending
The theme of finding a derelict starship has been done many times, the first 3 books of this series were ok, the 4th was disappointing.
The complete idol worship of the main character was overdone, he could do no wrong.
The A.I. entity could have been shown to have developed with more understanding of its human companions.
The main protagonists were just a undefined group working behind the scenes to take over the Coalition.
There was some character definition in the Earth badies, but none within the Coalition.
