A great story, but drags often
When I first started listening to this, oh great this like a boring book. It has several spots that drag on and on. But overall if you like regency books, you will enjoy it.

Military Hero loves his Childhood Girlfriend
A tired and abused military hero returns from war in France to find his beloved childhood girlfriend a fallen woman and socially out cast i. this Regency romance with a few appropriately adult sections. This is book 3 and works as stand alone. Series is very loosely linked by the heroes having served in the Army together.
Characters of books 1 and 2 make appearances at a house party in this, book 3 of 4.
Oddly, without explanation or announcement, at the end of the audiobook, chapter 1 from part of the series plays.

heartwarming
This was a heart tugger. Poor communication social proprieties, and time and distance all conspired to keep the two hearts apart. I loved Hudson's tenacity, integrity , and perseverance
for the prize of his heart- Emily. Great storyline. It was very suspenseful at times. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

Good series,good narration.
Really like the author, however, would be better without the smut. I hate illicit sex scenes, I’m married, I don’t need details! “Their kiss deepened, he picked her up and carried her to the bed.” Period! We know what happens after that! I want a sweet love story, not illicit sex scenes that I have to fast forward through.
