About this listen

He’s inherited the title of rake. She hides behind her independence.... Fate accepts the challenge.

Grace Beaumont has seen what love can do to a woman. Her mother sacrificed her life to produce the coveted son and heir. A devastated father and newborn brother force her to take on the role of Lady Boldon at the age of 15. But Grace finds solace in the freedom and power of her new status.

Christopher Roker made a name for himself in the military. The rigor and pragmatism of the army suits him. When a tragic accident heaves Kit into a role he never wanted or expected, his world collides with another type of duty. Returning to England and his newfound responsibilities, the Wicked Earls’ Club becomes a refuge from the glitter and malice of London society but cannot ease his emptiness.

Needing an escape from his late brother’s memory and reputation, Kit visits the family estate for the summer. Lady Grace, a beauty visiting from a neighboring estate, becomes a welcome distraction. When the chance to return to the military becomes a valid possibility, the earl finds himself wavering between his old life and the lure of an exceptional - and unwilling - woman.

Great Story!

The Earl Of Sunderland by Aubrey Wynne and narrated by Kevin Archer is a standalone historical regency romance that has no cliff-hanger. This story is suitable for all ages as there is no swearing, explicit sex scenes or violence. This is a clean well written story with a happy ending. There is angst, tragedy, and heartbreak but it is all tastefully done in a very entertaining story that I found extremely enjoyable. Kevin Archer did an excellent job narrating in a voice perfect for the well developed characters you will come to care about. I highly recommend this story, I loved it!

Wicked Earls!

I expected wickedness with the title of the series, but what I had was my heart fluttering, some smiling and as I got to listen to the first book in this series. Aubrey Wynne writes beautifully and her visual context put me right back in time as we get to know Kit and Grace. Kit never thought he was going to be the Earl, but the unexpected death of his twin brother has him coming home to groom for the role. He is unmarried, and isn't looking for a wife. When he meets Grace though, all bets are off. Grace is taking care of your young brother and while enchanted by Kit, is not looking for marriage. The perfect couple, right? Their journey to find each other and the passion they do find is well worth the wait. Add in Eliza, who I love as we go through her pregnancy and Sammy with his times with Kit and we have pure entertainment. The story is gorgeous and the quotes at the beginning of each chapter perfect.

This is my first narration by Kevin Archer and I loved his voice. He is perfect for historical romance, just enough of the royal intonation that gives the Earl's that important sound. I enjoyed his performance.

Dool

Was a good story, meeting someone and then you don't see them for a long time, and realizing you love them. The narration was wonderful.

Another Win for Wynne (and Archer!)

This historical romance does not disappoint! You feel for the characters -- their pain and their joy. Kevin Archer did a wonderful job with the narration. The pleasing tenor of his voice and his lovely accent lend perfectly to this book. This is my first listen of Mr. Archer's but I enjoyed it enough that I've searched to find more of his narrations -- this won't be my last listen of his! This novella does well as an audio book. The author does not write overly descriptive scenes, but I think the narrator does a good job through voice inflection, etc. to put you into the book. I would recommend this audio book, as well as the book itself.

From war to peace?

[This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.] Christopher [Kit] Roker had always been comfortable being the second son and had made a name for himself, in the army. After fighting at Waterloo, Kit decided he would not be in another war and decided to go home. Before Kit can leave a messenger brings him a letter from his father, and his life changes.

A wonderful performance!

This installment in The Wicked Earl's Club is a warm and wonderful story. Kit and Grace meet at a wedding for a single dance, then meet again after the death of Kit's twin brother. The romance that started with that fateful dance blossoms along the pages of this well written novella.

Bringing the story to life is completed by Kevin Archer. His deep baritone voice sends chills down the spine! Mr. Archer has the most beautiful speaking voice. I hope to find more books narrated by him.

Sweet

The Earl of Sunderland by Aubrey Wynne was such a sweet read. A little bit of heart breaking but completely swoon worthy.. The narration was okay but not exceptional, maybe I'm just not used to male narrators. Still a perfect and romantic read. 😊

Great Story!

A story of loss, pain, and love. Grace Beaumont at the age of 15, watched as her mother struggle in labor and lose her life giving her husband and Grace's father the much need heir. Grace is heartbroken about losing her mother and vows never to marry and have children. For the next five years, she is the mother, sister to her little brother and her father's right hand by running the household. Christopher (Kit) Roker, military man and has no desire to be anything else. His twin brother will be the earl and run the family estate when their father dies. Eliza-Grace's cousin and Carson, Kit's twin brother are married and when Carson dies in an accident, Kit is called home and Grace goes to comfort her cousin. It was at the Sunderland Estate that Grace and Kit meet again--since the wedding-- and though each refuses to acknowledge it at first there is an attraction to one another. The story will keep you listening to it, to the bitter end, giving you a chuckle and sign here and there.

Aubrey Wynne did a fabulous job writing this and the narrator, Kevin Archer, did a wonderful job doing each of the character's parts. Bravo to you both!

Loved it!

Aubrey Wynne's stories are always wonderful. She has a beautiful writing and she never disappoint. This story is part of the Wicked Earls' Club series. I love Regency's romantic stories and this one is really great. I loved the main characters, Grace, Kit and Eliza. I also loved the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. It was my first listen to the voice of Kevin Archer. He has a great voice and the narration was well done and easy to listen to. I totally recommend this audiobook.
