I love these novels and have read them several times. It took a minute to get Yusuf to Cynthia Holloway’s reading but I liked it. She did good ^_^

A riveting book but you want to read/listen to book 1 first

Book 2 is about revenge, back stories, and transitions.

We learn about Shane's tragic losses (his sister and Mom). His Dad wants revenge for their deaths and gets Shane arrested. His Dad teams up with Oliver to start killing vampires. The first kill is the evil Brandon. This starts a power struggle between Emily and Oliver.

Oliver, the power-hungry vampire, is the reason Michael turned into a ghost because of his failed attempt to turn Michael into a vampire.

Because of the failed attempt to change Michael, his life is tied to the Glass house. Not being able to help his friends when they need him, Michael asks Emily, the founder and oldest vampire, to turn him into a vampire so he can leave the house when he needs to.

We also learn that the youngest vampire, Sam, is Michael's grandfather and he seems to be in love with Emily.

Eve's murderous brother is released from prison. But, that's all we really know about him.

In the end, young 16-year old Claire is faced with her own life-changing decision. What will she do?

Great story, I listened to the first one and then bought the second one so it can't be that bad. However, it took awhile to ignore the narrator. She sounds pissed off meets valley girl while impersonating William Shatner. Cynthia Holloway reads the book in an annoying cadence that once you get passed it the book is awesome.

What did you love best about The Dead Girls' Dance?
I liked that the story line. I also like it that the author used the same narrator for all of her series. It's basically a pg rated – tween version of Vampire Academy. I like it that the story line really changes between books. The “love Interest” quandry is between a 16 year old college freshman and her 18 year old male roommate. So, they are determined not to go past 2nd base. No blood and gore in this series. It really doesn't get into how they get their blood (other than the unmentioned college kids disappearing). We find a new main character and this book sets up well for book 3. I never reached a point where, “I couldn't put it down.” Nor were there any places I bookmarked, like I did in the Vampire Academy. The character descriptions didn't really give me a good mind's eye as to what the characters looked like other than general descriptions ie “blonde and blue eyes- I couldn't take my eyes off of him.” I had a hard time buying into the characters, this might be done on purpose, since I feel that the audience is tween. I bought book 3 and 4. Book 3 is much better than book 2.

Have you listened to any of Cynthia Holloway’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I like her performance, but her man voice really could be better.
