About this listen

Six months ago Harry Bosch left the LAPD before they could fire him and then hired maverick defense attorney Mickey Haller to sue the department for forcing him out. Although it wasn't the way he wanted to go, Harry has to admit that being out of the game has its benefits.

Until Mickey asks him to help on one of his cases, and suddenly Harry is back where he belongs, right in the centre of a particularly puzzling murder mystery.

The difference is this time Harry is working for the defense, aiming to prevent the accused, Leland Foster, from being convicted. And not only does the prosecution seem to have a cast-iron case, but having crossed over to 'the dark side', as his former colleagues would put it, Harry is in danger of betraying the very principles he's lived by his whole career.

Read by the star of Bosch, Titus Welliver.

Decent thriller

Perhaps a little formulaic but hey, what’s wrong with the tried and tested? It’s what you do with it that counts, and Connelly is skilful enough to do plenty. But it’s the narration that does it full justice. Superbly performed.

Good choice to swop sides.

Although Bosch was not happy to swop sides, he did his usual outstanding job to find the truth.

Loved this

After having gotten used to Titus welliver as Bosch in the Tv series, his voice is perfect.

Another Gripping Story

What made the experience of listening to The Crossing the most enjoyable?

In addition to the gripping story, the development of the relationships between Bosch and Haller ans Bosch and his daughter.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I did not like the narrator. He used the same voice for all the characters. Once or twice I thought Haller was speaking when it was Bosch and vice versa.

Any additional comments?

It was good to have both Bosch and Haller together in one novel.

Very disapointing

What disappointed you about The Crossing?

I have listened to or read everything that Michael has written. This is probably his lowest moment. The plot is extremely improbable and at the same time predictable because it follows the old rogue cop plot that has been used so many times before.
This is so bad that I have difficulty in believing that Michael wrote this

What do you think your next listen will be?

The new John Grisham

Which character – as performed by Titus Welliver – was your favorite?

Probably Haller

Any additional comments?

I will continue to listen to Michael Connelly because he is such a great story teller. I just hope he can recover from this sad effort.
