About this listen

Flirtatious American blonde Miss Hailey Duke should never have accepted a summer weekend invitation to Fontaburn Hall. But when the Honourable Archibald Cooke Wellingham’s house party are woken, in the early hours of Sunday morning, it’s too late: Miss Duke’s blood is on their hands.

With the aid of Detective Chief Inspector Reynolds, Sergeant Ayari and loyal friend Dr Toby Cropper, Susie Mahl, on a timely commission drawing six racehorses nearby, seizes the opportunity to play detective for a second time.

Her artist's eye for detail make her ideally suited to the task in hand, but is she getting carried away by her previous triumph - even to the extent of endangering her reputation and her relationship with Toby?

A more grown-up Nancy Drew style story

I have enjoyed listening to these Susie Mahl mystery stories. Although perhaps not the most sophisticated stories you’ll ever hear, they are wonderfully entertaining - perfect for a pandemic. I like the intrigue of the murder mystery and a little romance without the disturbing/depressing aspect of some more serious novels. These are perfect to listen to when you don’t want any extra stress in your day but want something that will keep your attention.

How Sad The Author Bashes Americans The Entire Book

What does it say about an author, that she can’t let go of her obvious dislike of Americans to get on with the story and give a good read..??
We on the other side of the pond don’t think ALL British have bad teeth,.. or ALL east Enders lack of manners, nor ALL Brits have irritating Cockney accents ... so lighten up on us okay.?
I gave your first book 5 stars.. but your disdain for the USA has caused your ratings to plummet to 1 star...
Shame on you for falling into the trap of self righteous opinions of a whole country that you obviously know nothing about....Mocking a nation in its entirety is petty and reprehensible..
I’m disgusted.. then, in the next paragraph you are touting your good Catholic beliefs and your pious attitude
Do some major introspection.. you need a good spring cleaning of the soul....
