About this listen

Second chances are rare in life, third or fourth chances rarer still. Ben Nickerson has lost count of the chances he’s had and lost. He is now at a point in his life were yet another chance is something he will have to fight very hard for. He is no longer sure he deserves or even wants it.
Ben is an alcoholic who has lost his career, his marriage and his way of life to the disease. He lives in a sober home on Cape Cod, struggling to be invisible and survive against the backdrop of one of the premier vacation spots in the country.
His only confidant is a two-year-old boy who shares his name and died a hundred years before Ben was born. Ben shares his thoughts and fears with this child’s tombstone because it offers him a safe haven. As odd as this relationship is Ben is at a point where he will accept any form of solace, any form of affirmation however odd it may seem. As this story begins Ben believes that he is on the road to recovery. He is about to learn that road is much longer and more twisted than he could ever have imagined. Along the way he meets many unique individuals, both good and bad, and learns some valuable life lessons.
This is a story of addiction; of one person’s struggle to overcome it and the ordeals he must face before finally being offered a final chance at life.
