Helen wasn't just born the devious vixen of New Day Temple of Faith. There had to be something rooted deep within her to make her inflict and feed off other people's pain. Perhaps it was her own pain that she had suppressed for so many years - an unimaginable pain - that created an internal prison of which her mind was the only captive. But once the demons within her break free, those around her better beware, as Helen surely becomes the epitome of the saying, "Hurt people, hurt people".

Cute story and well read
Cute homey story. A little predictable, and some of the drama scenes were abrupt. The narrator's voice was quite pleasant and conversational. Some of the recording breaks were jarring, and took me out of the moment. More continuity of recording quality and voice pitch/nuance would be good. I would recommend this audiobook as a pleasant diversion.

The Man Across the Creek
Entertaining short story with several plot twists. Rose broke up with her boyfriend and deals with emotions from her broken relationship. Meeting the boy across the creek helped her move on and trust others again. Her family and town also faces a threat from the Urban Development Corporation and the resolution of that situation is one I didn't see coming. The story was written to bring attention to recognizing the signs of schizophrenia
The narration seemed fast in the beginning but seemed to moderate by the end, or I got better at listening to it fast. An enjoyable listen all told.

Love Story and More
The Boy Across the Creek is undoubtedly a love story, a modern fairy tale. It is also a story of family ties and neighborly closeness. The book takes you to a rollercoaster of emotions as it talks of falied relationships, mistakes made, wrong decisions and bad to worst scenarios. On the other hand, its is also full of romantic tales, chivalrous acts and dreams coming true. The twists and turns just keep coming and kept me on my toes during the entire ride/listen.
The narration was great. It was entertaining, giving each character its own individual and distinct characteristic.
Overall, this is a highly recommended audiobook for people who are searching for something inspiring and uplifting.

Very Romantic
I was gifted this Audiobook for an honest review. I really liked this book, it was my first LaConstance McKinnon book. I liked that it was basic and simple love story set in the country. I brought back so many memories I had as a small child but very memorable and heartfelt. I liked the twist it had but stayed focused on the love of every family member. And really who doesn't have a family member or a family friend who is overly religious. It was so refreshing. I really enjoyed The Boy Across the Creek! The narration was awesome!!!!

An enjoyable listen
I really enjoyed listening to this story. It was a sweet romance. I liked the main characters and the small town setting. I liked most of the secondary characters too. There were a couple of twists within the plot that made it interesting. It had a good balance of romance and other stories within the pages of the book. I was happy with the flow of the story and found the back story of some of secondary characters just as interesting as the main one. The narrator was great and gave each character a voice of their own. I would listen to another book read by her. I would recommend this story to others who enjoy reading romance.
