My Favorite Author

What made the experience of listening to The Girl in Seat 24B the most enjoyable?

So emotional! I loved Carly and felt her heartbreak over and over. After listening to Michael and how head over heels in love with her he was, I was astounded that he walked away and wanted to throttle him. I knew he would come back although it seemed like it would never happen. I loved, loved, loved the ending!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Girl in Seat 24B?

When she finally decided she was finished (about time!) and didn't make it too easy for him to come back after he realized what he had lost.

Have you listened to any of Meghan Kelly’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't, but loved her performance. I'd like to hear more from her.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was so emotional it sometimes made me sick to my stomach--wasn't sure I could take much more-- but I also couldn't stop reading. Jennifer Peel weaves such interesting stories and is definitely in a class of her own. She makes them both intriguing and fascinating and many with a lot of humor and "feel good" moments. I love that she does all of this while keeping the books clean and with a touch of Christianity.

Any additional comments?

I have liked all of her books, and absolutely loved most of them. Can't wait until they all come out in audio.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Sigh....

.

This is one of my new all-time favorites!

Jennifer Peele has written a wonderful story about two people who fall in love, start a life together and picks up 10 years after the initial meeting.

Michael decides that the marriage is not what he wants anymore and we struggle with Carly to find out why she is not enough.

Anymore will spoil this wonderful book.

Meghan Kelly brings the characters to life, as she always does. I love, love love her performance, especially her interpretation of male characters. It is never distracting and always believable.

I have said it before and will say it again, Meghan Kelly picks out the best books to perform. If I am even just a tiny bit interested in a book, and I see that Meghan Kelly is the narrator I will give it a whirl world. She has yet to disappoint me!

Five stars for every category I believe I am going to download "His personal relationship manager: dating by design, book 1" by Jennifer Peele. It is the only only other books available on audio at this point (2017) I hope there will be more.

The Girl in Seat 24B

“This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.”

The Girl in Seat 24B
: Jennifer Peel

This is a riveting story of a family, mother, father, son and daughter. Ten years into their marriage Michael decided his family was holding him back. He moves out breaking their hearts. Throw in the complication that Carley finds out she is pregnant.

Seldom do I find myself wanting to smack a character up side the head but, Michael Bishop wins that honor. Carley is close behind as she played the almost tragic heroine. I say almost because she has qualities that keep her above it all.

I had to finish to see how it ended, but sometimes I should have been kept guessing.

Overall a decent listen.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.

Heart-pounding and real!

I love a realistic and non-cheesy love story and this is it! Jennifer Peel held my attention all the way with her very well-written novel, where you get through all emotions. Be prepared to get angry, sad and laugh in between.

You don't know what a midlife crisis is before you have one and it's kind of the same as depression - you don't know what's happening to you, you can't put your words on it, you can't really feel anything and you're in denial. This happens to Michael Bishop and he leaves his family to live on his own.

Carly - on the other hand - feels she has a wonderful life as a housewife and when it comes to a midlife crisis, she's not there yet. She fights to get her marriage to work, begs Michael to come home and when she's at the point at giving up, she files for divorce. I felt her, I really did! But I also get Michael, who is lost - just lost. I wanted to kick his ass many times, but I do get him. When he tries to explain why he left, it's obvious what he's going through. It takes a lot of darkness to see the light.

Well-done Jennifer Peel - I hope more of your books goes to audio very soon!

Meghan Kelly was wonderful in her narration and she really nailed all the emotional aspects of a young woman in this situation. Her voices are top-notch, both male and female. I love when she seperates the dialogue and the thoughts with different levels of sound, so you won't doubt what's going on. Thanks for another wonderful experience, Meghan!

A recommandation: If you love this book do also try 'An Unforgivable Love Story' by B.L. Berry and you'll get a love story in the same genre. This book is also narrated by Meghan Kelly.

Ehh

The story was okay and it would have been better if the narration was better. It's a clean story, which is always a plus. The female character is far too nice. I like this author, which is why I bought this book. If you haven't listened to My Not So Wicked Stepbrother, you need to.

Good story, but awful characters

It’s a well written story, however the characters are frustrating. A selfish, Narcissistic, self centered, husband who suddenly doesn’t care about his wife and kids, and a doormat wife with no self esteem and no self worth just chasing the husband like a lost puppy and waiting for him to give her crumbs of attention.
The narration wasn’t the best. The narrator’s voice really got on my nerves.

Pleasantly surprised

This book was a pleasant surprise for me. It is a well written and narrated story with memorable characters. It's a story that's packed with emotion. I felt the hurt, sadness, frustration, and ultimately happiness that Carly was going through. I have to admit I admire how much patience and determination she had. I definitely recommend this to everyone who likes true to life stories with heart.

Note: No warnings with this one...This is a clean read.

If you enjoy touching stories like me...give this one a try.

Something Different

Not your typical romance novel. The narrator was really hard to listen to, if it weren't for the content I'd have returned the book. If this had been my first JP book I also would have returned it. The narrator was breathy or something. had to work really hard to ignore her. Wonderful story.

Good solid book about married life

I don't give a synopsis of a book - you can read that in the blurb. I enjoyed this book because it was a realistic story of modern married life. Touching in ways and a bit frustrating in others. I wanted to shake the husband in the beginning and felt the same way about the wife before it was over. Overall a solid listen without graphic content. Because of the age of the husband and wife, this novel is most suitable for listeners over the age of 30.
