Publisher's summary

Her self-absorbed news anchor ex-husband careening back into her life was not on this amateur psychic detective’s bingo card.

Not only does Griffin Gentry show up unexpectedly at Riley Thorn’s door—the real shock is that he’s begging her for help. Riley’s hot private investigator boyfriend Nick Santiago refusing to take the job is…well, less of a surprise.

Too bad for Nick that his octogenarian business partner overrules him and takes the lead on Griffin’s case. But when a dead body makes it clear someone really is out to get Riley’s ex, the mile-long suspect list means all hands on deck at Santiago Investigations. Even the wrinkly, retired ones.

It’s only a matter of time before Griffin brings the danger directly to their doorstep. And with Riley and Nick busy interviewing suspects, that leaves their elderly roommates to wreak havoc in the surveillance department. Can Riley block out the chaos to focus her psychic visions long enough to narrow down the list of suspects? Or will Griffin Gentry’s bad karma be the downfall of them all?

Loved it!

This book made me laugh out loud so many times! Lucy Score never disappoints, and I just love the way she writes Nick and Riley. Natalie Duke is such a talented voice actress. The voice she uses for each character really brings the story alive!

Is this the end?

To be honest, I was having second thoughts about reading the latest Riley Thorn installment this soon. Reading it would mean I have nothing else Riley Thorn-related to look forward to. But because I listed this book as part of this month's reading challenge (plus I had been reading--rereading the earlier books to prepare myself for this one), I knew I had to read it now.

And I said it before, and I will say it again. Natalie Duke is Riley Thorn. I cannot imagine anybody else narrating this beautiful and diabolically hilarious series. And I enjoyed listening to how most of the secondary characters have grown over time (hello, Gabe) and how they become chaotically hilarious. It made me laugh out loud alone late at night. As always, this one gives a good mix of romance, action, and comedy. Everything I look for in a good book.

I hope we can still get more Riley Thorn in the future. I recommend reading this book. I most especially recommend listening to this book. Your life will change for the better, I promise.

Loved as always

Delightful! Even my husband enjoyed listening to it! Once again the author didn’t introduce the killer until more than 3/4 of the way through the book, but it was really clever and fun nonetheless. I really love the character development.

Off the rocker and under the shrubs

The elderly folks behaving so.badly, repeatedly, redeem themselves in the end. Which makes this story a little easier to bear. Books 1-3 were so good! I don’t know if I just didn’t notice something before or the author wrote more obnoxious behaviors/actions into it this time. Once there were fewer scenes like those in the show Off Their Rockers, I could focus on the hilarious other characters, the action scenes and really interesting parts of the story. I have a hard time with grown-ups acting like alcoholic toddlers.. so book 4 was definitely harder to enjoy. Still, i like these characters so much! I do see myself listening to them again and hopefully Penny, Lily, Fred and the elder gang won’t grate on my nerves as much.
