Well Lucy has done it again! Everything she writes is pure gold!

Small Virginia town set in fictional Bootleg Springs, is filled with colorful neighbors and fun times. Makes me want to live there!

Scarlett Bodine is tasked to help Devlin McCallister, a disgraced politician, find his true self after his wife cheats on him, by his grandmother. With her spark and love of life, she helps heal his broken soul and helps him find his true calling in life. Scarlett shows Devlin how to be more spontaneous. And Devlin shows her how to be in a relationship. He also helps her heal after her father passes away.

The town is filled with eccentric people that keep the laughter coming. Throughout the story of Scarlett and Devlin, there is a mystery that you are learning about with Devlin. Callie went missing 12 years ago and the whole town is trying to figure out the mystery of what happened to her. We also meet Scarlett's 3 brothers and half-brother. We watch how they grow as a family and finally help Scarlett with the loss of her father.

This is the start of the Bootleg Spring Series written with Claire Kingsley. Each book is about one of Scarletts brothers and more of the mystery of "What happened to Callie?" is revealed.

Lucy Score sure knows how to put into words all the feels, that we need, to make a great story. You feel like you are there and know these characters, like they are our friends. She is amazing in fleshing out the characters and making us vested in knowing what happens to each and every one of them. I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out!

You ever restart a book or series you know is good. One you wish you could experience for the first time again. One you still actively tell people how good it is more than a year after reading the first time. But then you start reading again, and you realize that you forgot how good it actually is?? That, I love that feeling. Restarted Bootleg Springs. I freaking love this series, and I still forgot exactly how fantastic it is. Scarlett and Devlin’s story does such a great job setting up the series. I truly appreciate how much detail was put in to set up the following 5 books, but also you got such a great love story between these two characters. True to character, you fall in love with Scarlett Bodine. She is a firecracker and fun, and someone you want in your corner. It was fun to watch buttoned up Devlin fall for her and find himself in the process. I really love their love story.

Stephen Dexter and Natalie Duke are narrator perfection in this. The accents and different voices for the different characters are so good. I am in awe, and looking forward to listening to them again and again as the series goes on.

Such a great start to this series!! I love Scarlett and Devlin!

I’ve had this series for a while now. I got it on a big sale. What the heck was I waiting for. I devoured this book pretty quickly. It was a great story that drug you in right from the very start. Leaves you with intrigue and wanting to know what happens…… it’s not a cliff hanger but you definitely need to listen to more to find out what happens with the one part of the book but It does end with a HEA. Can’t wait to listen to the next one.

I originally read this story in 2020. I’m finally getting to listen to the audiobook after purchasing it in 2021 (?). I absolutely loved it. Natalie Duke does an amazing southern accent and is great as tomboy troublemaker Scarlet Bodine. I always enjoy Stephen Dexter and he does not disappoint! This story will make you laugh and will have you pulled in with the overall plot of what happened to Callie Kendall

This was a great start to the Bootleg Springs series. I really enjoyed the opposites attract and forced proximity tropes and they worked perfectly for this small town romance. There are plenty of shenanigans and laughs throughout, but I did feel that the story lost a little focus in the middle and some parts felt repetitive and too drawn out.

Scarlett was a whirlwind of activity and such a great contrast to the buttoned up Devlin. There is some typical push and pull between them as reality intrudes on their bubble, but the epilogue was just right and really set up the future books well. Natalie Duke and Stephen Dexter were wonderful together and I really enjoyed their narration. Natalie Duke's accent was a highlight for me and she was the perfect Scarlett. The Callie Kendall mystery was also an interesting addition to the story and I'm looking forward to seeing how that resolves over the course of the series.
