Publisher's summary

In Julie Sherry's The Attached Buddha, Julie takes her listeners on a journey to explore the connection between mind, body, and soul in the context of her education and experience as a trained and working physical therapist for over 20 years.

Julie views the body as a sacred garment that we should treat with honor. She shares her holistic approach to physical therapy while sharing case examples of her own patients’ stories of pain and healing. Julie emphasizes that our bodies whisper to us, giving us constant feedback about what it needs to move towards better health. In addition to conventional physical therapy, Julie believes that once we listen to those whispers with intent and accept the mind/body connection to our physical and emotional frailties, we can move more easily toward health and wholeness. The right awareness at the right moment can be a moment of change if we are open to it.

A Full Body Healer

Julie Sherry's book is a good short read, but carries a wealth of information as well as motivation in thinking through all of our body-mind connections. I am an on-again, off-again athlete (cyclist, runner) who also works full-time and has two young children. I carry around stresses and aches and pains that I have left unattended to, both physical and mental. Before reading this book, I thought that a chiropractic session here and there, my own exercise routine and a once in a while mental therapy session was all that I needed, even though I never got the results I wanted. Julie is able to demonstrate through her book that one needs a more attached approach to fully resolve body and mind "aches and pains". It has fully motivated me to start on an integrated program of healing and I highly recommend others to listen to her kind, thoughtful and focussed approach.
