Publisher's summary

Veronica Mars meets the World of Warcraft in The Astonishing Mistakes of Dahlia Moss, a mystery romp with a most unexpected heroine.

You'd think that after I took a bullet in my arm following my last case, that I'd be timid about going in guns blazing a second time. But you'd be wrong. I faced down death, and the only bad thing that happened was that I got a cool scar. Which is a like a tattoo, but with street cred.

I may have been a little overconfident this time. Like, Leeroy Jenkins overconfident. Some small, but confidently made, errors committed in this audiobook include:

  • Unwisely meeting up with an internet stalker in real life
  • Eating a large breakfast before discovering a corpse
  • Kidnapping
  • Standing uncomfortably close to the edge of a steamboat while musing that nothing bad could possibly happen
  • Kidnapping, again

That's the thing about a sense of invulnerability - you usually get it right before things go terribly, terribly, wrong.

geeky and hilarious:)

The narrator is tremendous. Lauren Fortgang could read the dictionary and I would enjoy it! ❤️
The book is buckets of fun and I've found myself actually LOLing in public with myself like a crazy person - on multiple occasions 😬. The villains could have been better reasoned though 🤷

Laugh out loud funny in places

Listening to this it felt more like a stand up comedienne/story teller. The story is done in first person and the delivery is spot on. If you aren't familiar with gamer culture it doesn't take a much to compare this to any group of somewhat rabid hobbyists at a convention. The gaming is the background for the mystery and the mystery is the real story. Well, maybe Dahlia, herself, is the real story.

Hilarious!

Inept pre-private detective is hilarious but somehow gets the job done with too many mishaps to name!

Funniest book I own.

Love this series. A cozy geek mystery. Perfect audio performance from the narrator. Where’s the third book?

Hilarious writing and FANTASTIC narrator

I’m going to keep this short and sweet: this book is great. The story is very nerdy and entertaining (and hysterically funny) and Lauren Fortgang as narrator is awesome. Seriously, I can’t stress that enough. I’m an audiobook enthusiast, and Lauren is the best narrator I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to. 10/10, will listen again.
