About this listen
Sure, I might be a low elf. But that doesn't mean I won't get up to high jinks.
Daisy Carter knows she's not anyone special. She might be brave and resourceful. She might possess a touch more magic than your average low elf. But, when it comes down to it, she's just another delivery driver trying to make a living. Admittedly, life would be easier without her addiction to a dangerous drug called spider's silk—but she's got her reasons for that. Nobody's perfect.
However, Daisy's world changes when she crosses paths with Hugo Pemberville, the celebrated high elf who's well known for being an accomplished treasure hunter. He's also an arrogant idiot who deliberately destroys Daisy's life.
Before she knows it, she's thrust into a treasure hunting adventure that she could never have dreamed of.
Daisy is determined to succeed, even if only to show Hugo that he's not as good as he thinks he is. But treasure hunting is more difficult and more dangerous than she'd expected. And Hugo is more annoying, more skilled—and, damn him, more alluring as well.

It's one thing to wake up outside in the middle of the night with a decapitated man for company. It's another to have no memory of how you got there—or who you are. She might not know her own name but she knows that several people are out to get her. It could be because she has strange magical powers seemingly at her fingertips and is some kind of fabulous hero. But then why does she appear to inspire fear in so many? And who on earth is the sexy, green-eyed barman who apparently despises her? So many questions . . . and so few answers.

There are three absolutes in Mairi Wallace's world: 1. The Mages rule every city in Scotland with terrible, violent authority. 2. It is not physically possible for any woman to wield magic. 3. Mairi does not have a voice. She is about to learn that none of these things have to be true. From twisted wynds and tartan shops to a dangerous daemon and malevolent ravens, the future of a tattered nation might lie with one solitary woman.

I’m one placement away from becoming a fully fledged London detective. It’s bad enough that my last assignment before I qualify is with Supernatural Squad. But that’s nothing compared to what happens next. Brutally murdered by an unknown assailant, I wake up 12 hours later in the morgue - and I’m very much alive. I don’t know how or why it happened. I don’t know who killed me. All I know is that they might try again.

Let's get one thing straight - Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact she's probably the last witch in the world you'd call if you needed a magical helping hand, regardless of her actual abilities. If it were down to Ivy, she'd spend all day every day on her sofa, where she could watch TV, munch junk food, and talk to her feline familiar to her heart's content. However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she's yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch.

The last thing she ever imagined was Lucan, an infuriating and high-ranking dragon shifter, hiring her to find a child kidnapped from his Tribe. Even though her magical talents lean more towards bodyguarding and hunting dangerous beings, condemning a kid to death isn't who she is. Welcome to The Slaughtered Lamb Bookstore and Bar. I'm Sam Quinn, the werewolf book nerd in charge. I run my business by one simple rule: Everyone needs a good book and a stiff drink, be they vampire, wicche, demon, or fae. No wolves, though. Ever. I serve the supernatural community of San Francisco. We've been having some problems lately. Okay, I'm the one with the problems. The broken body of a female werewolf washed up on my doorstep. What makes sweat pool at the base of my spine, though, is realizing the scars she bears are identical to the ones I conceal.

I have an eidetic memory and a can-do attitude. I can-do anything to get away from the vampire king. So when the Sheriff of Portlock, a hidden paranormal town, invites me to be his assistant, I say sure thing. It beats servitude hands down.

I keep the beers coming, and in return the town keeps my secret. But when a gang of deadly vampires shows up at the bar, it’s clear they’re not looking for a drink. They want to take my business. What she's about to realize, however, is that she can escape her reality through her dreams. Unfortunately, it's quite possible that her nightmares are only just beginning....

Mack might be, to all intents and purposes, a normal looking human, but she lives with a pack of shapeshifters in Cornwall in rural England after being dumped there by her mother when she was just a young child. She desperately wants to be accepted by her surrogate family, not least because a lot of them hate her for merely being human, but for some reason her blood just won't allow the transformation to occur.

Mackenzie works for Catch and Release, a bounty-hunting guild, and she loves her job. She goes after the usual suspects: Rogue vampires, feral shifters, and crazed mages. Nightmare stuff. But as Mackenzie gets deeper into her hunt, she uncovers deadly secrets surrounding the child, the kidnapper, and Lucan himself...

Story
Everyone’s welcome at the Stag—vampire, wolf or human. As long as they don’t make trouble. Or ask too many questions about what we’re selling out of the back room. I keep the beers coming, and in return the town keeps my secret. But when a gang of deadly vampires shows up at the bar, it’s clear they’re not looking for a drink. They want to take my business. Or my blood. But this is more than just a shake down. All over town, people are dropping like flies. Disappearing or attacking their neighbors. It’s like they’re possessed. And someone—or something—is pulling the strings.

The Start of Another Amazing Helen Harper Series!
I might sound a little biased but honestly this new series just solidifies what I already knew…Helen Harper is QUEEN!
Tattered Huntress is just brilliant. Harper has a true gift for mixing the magical and the mundane. I honestly wish I could live in these worlds she creates.
Just pick up the book and thank me later!

Tattered Hundreds
By Helen Harper
I really enjoyed this book! Our gal of the story is a low elf, minor magic power, and a delivery driver. She is also takes an illegal drug called spider web to keep her magic in check because it is so uncontrollable. She doesn't take it for the thrill. But a high elf noticed she used it and got her fired. So she decided to try to find the treasure he was looking for. What a wild ride! Fun, crazy, and exciting! Can't wait for the next book!

The Great Treasure Hunt
I love Helen Harper and her characters. This book has great dialogue, an exciting and dangerous treasure hunt and a lot of interesting characters. She knows how to build a story and draw you in, but still keep the characters believable. You like them while hating their flaws, but they also grow. They are not one dimensional, good vs. evil - they learn and change without losing their strength. I also love the strong females in these books like Daisy in this book, Emma in Firebrand and Integrity in the Highland Magic series or Ivy in Slouch Witch.
Daisy is a great with people (supernatural or not) - she truly cares about them and, through her tenacity, knowledge of the area and ability to relate to people, she puts the clues together to be a real challenge in the hunt. No one expects a low elf with no credentials to be in the running for the prize(s) -multiple clues to find to get to the finish line.
That said, Daisy and Hugo reminded me too much of Integrity and Byron and of Ivy and Raphael. There is a similar dynamic between the characters and the high born and low born aspect, the tension. The competition is NOT the same, but it had the feel of the Honour Bound competition. The underdog with her wits and cast of helpers fights to prove herself to arrogant and some corrupt people. I loved Integrity and her friends and Daisy has that same feel, but there were several points where I thought, "That's right out of Honour Bound." Been there, done that.
This is a good story with a great cast of characters and I want to read the second book to see what happens, but I only gave this a 4 because it felt like the first part of this story has already been told. I want Emma in Firebrand back - I personally loved the unique mysteries in each book that had to be solved rather than this type of chase to prove her worth. Just my opinion.
(And I love Ruth Urquhart as narrator!)

Terrible
The storyline is disjointed, nonsensical, and difficult to follow. It must be self published. It needs a strong editor. Do not read. I cringed the whole time.
