About this listen

From number one best-selling and USA Today best-selling author Jack Mars, author of the critically acclaimed Luke Stone and Agent Zero series (with over 5,000 five-star reviews), comes an explosive new action-packed espionage series that takes listeners on a wild ride across Europe, America, and the world.

Jacob Snow—elite soldier-turned-CIA agent, haunted by his tortured past—is one of the CIA’s greatest assets. When a terrorist group sets its eyes on the greatest archeological treasure of the holiest city, Jacob, dispatched, knows he has little time to reach Jerusalem before it sparks an international war.

Jacob knows, even more, that he cannot solve the case without partnering with the mysterious archeologist he hopes to not fall in love with.

As they spring into action to decode the ancient riddles and stop them, they soon realize the plot goes deeper than they could have imagined. With the fate of the world in the balance, they may just be out of time.

An unputdownable action thriller with heart-pounding suspense and unforeseen twists, Target Two is the debut novel in an exhilarating new series by a number one best-selling author that will make you fall in love with a brand-new action hero—and keep you listening late into the night. Perfect for fans of Dan Brown, Daniel Silva, and Jack Carr.

Books 3-6 in the series are now also available.

A Light Thriller

I would say the target audience for this kind of writing is young adult or someone who wants some light escapism. It was definitely enjoyable & entertaining.

Not on a par with Agent Zero or Luke Stone

There didn’t seem to be a good reason for Jana to follow Jacob. The plot was highly reminiscent of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The deus ex machina was a little too hard to believe, as the two characters miraculously show up in the nick of time to save each other’s lives over and over. The narrator wasn’t bad, but sometimes it was difficult to distinguish his characters, and it was too easy to let my attention wander while he was reading. Mr. Mars should go back to Luke Stone and remember what made his books so riveting back then.

Jacob and Jana are back

I've become a fan of Jack Mars and he is definitely expanding the number of series that he is putting out. While this is only the second book in this particular series, it is a bit distinctive on its own.

This is still a CIA type thriller, but it is not as...I guess the words would be as "in depth" as some of the other things he writes. I don't mean that in a bad way at all. This series has shorter length books and they are a bit more superficial and quicker resolved.

They also revolve around two main MC's. The female MC is a non-CIA type. In fact, she is an archeologist whose father was a very famous CIA agent who is considered MIA. The male MC is a former military man who was actually rescued and saved by the female MC's father in a very odd and difficult situation.

The series so far has been dealing with the male MC - Jacob Snow - handling terrorist threats in the Middle East. That is how the two MC's find each other. She - of course - has the knowledge of history and specializes in that particular geographical area.

Realistically, the believability factor has to just be thrown out the window. I mean, he is a complete SOLO agent who never seems to have back up and she is an archeologist, but is able to keep up with Jacob and defeat the bad guys...many, many bad guys....quite often.

With that being said, if you go into this series just for the entertainment factor, you will leave satisfied. It is a great way to spend a couple of hours in a story that wraps up the story arc fairly quickly in a satisfactory manner with the good guys coming out on top.

Sometimes that is just what we need.
