About this listen

After losing her job as a TV psychic, Lee Barrett has decided to volunteer her talents as an instructor at the Tabitha Trumbull Academy of the Arts - known as "The Tabby" - in her hometown of Salem, Massachusetts. But when the school's handyman turns up dead under seemingly inexplicable circumstances on Christmas night, Lee's clairvoyant capabilities begin bubbling to the surface once again.

The Tabby is housed in the long-vacant Trumbull's Department Store. As Lee and her intrepid students begin work on a documentary charting the store's history, they unravel a century of family secrets, deathbed whispers, and a mysterious labyrinth of tunnels hidden right below the streets of Salem. Even the witches in town are spooked, and when Lee begins seeing visions in the large black patent leather pump in her classroom, she's certain that something evil is afoot. But ghosts in the store's attic are the least of her worries with a killer on the loose....

Enjoyed even more than the first.

Loving this series. Likable but not over the top characters and a good old fashioned mystery. I like the Lee is independent but also not afraid to let people get close. Looking forward to listening to the next one!

Good book but narration could be better

Narration was just kind of boring. Made it difficult not to get distracted and miss many parts of story. I’m not sure if I will listen to more if it’s the same narrator. She has a nice voice and is clear but there is no character to it.

This is a new take on witch's and tv

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it's not the same old, same old story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Love the Aunt, she's great.

Have you listened to any of C. S. E. Cooney’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

yes, about the same.

Any additional comments?

Lee is learning who she is and the Tabby is a fun, unusual place for a setting.

Such a great cozy!

Perry plots such tight cozies! This story moves along so quickly and when all is revealed the pieces slot together beautifully! So much fun!

Very good mystery

Narration is very good, plot is excellent, characters are interesting. And of course, the cat is very cool.
Audible has this marked as a romance. It is not a romance. Some of the characters go on dates, and occasionally kiss. Mostly they try to figure out who the ghost is and what she wants, without getting killed. A couple of people are murdered. Oh, and don’t forget the treasure map. However, it’s a very good read, it ends well, and I’m glad I listened to it.

The stories are great, the Narrator is hard to deal with

The first thing I want listeners to know is that depending on their preferences, the may have a hard time listening to the narrator. She is not at all good with creating separate voices for each character. And she reads the main character, Lee, as though she is depressed. That’s because Cooney is simply reading the story vs read acting the story. Many times I could not tell which character TAWs talking g because most sound the same.

That all said, Perry has created a wonderful world of magic and mystery that keep one entertained and wanting to get to the end. I hurts my heart for her that her narrator dose not give her stories and characters justice.

I am going to keep pressing g onward to the next book. That because for me, a good story over rides a not so good narrator.
