About this listen

Symona Brown is a 37-year old Jamaican British woman living in South London looking for her Mr Right whilst her biological clock loudly ticks on. She announces to her close girlfriends after a boozy Sunday brunch that she is ready to up her game and start actively dating, to their surprise and delight. After being consciously single for a number of years, Symona remembers what worked and what definitely did not in the dating arena. This time, she knows who she is and what she wants.

As Symona reflects through her memories from one Mr to another, she reveals her sensual, hilarious and downright frustrating encounters. She finds herself asking, “What does it mean to be a Black woman trying to exist, date and find love?” In her pursuit of love, she learns new lessons and different answers. Will these new revelations get her what she wants?

Lisa Bent, Symona's Still Single

I really enjoyed this book🤗 the author description for details is beautiful. Her writing style reminds me of Walter Mosley. Anyway I really enjoyed the storyline it showed consistency all through out. I just wish they could have used a mail voice for the men🥰 But I truly enjoyed it. I loved how instead of saying sucked the teeth....or smack his lips. Ms Bent said, "kisses their teeth" I was hesitant to read, but I really enjoyed it!!

Jamaican Brit Woman, loved it

Symona's experiences are very relatable. As a young Jamaican British woman, whose fertility clock is on the last wind, I appreciated Symona's experience. Could we have a part deux, s'il vous plait ?

That American Accent

I loved this book oh so much. I don’t know how I stumbled upon it, but I’m so glad I did. It was definitely the book I never thought I needed. I’m currently on the same path as Symona and it just felt like such a relatable story.

The narrator was great. I loved her tone and the different personalities she gave each character. She really brought the book to life. The ONLY critique I have is her American accent, it was not the greatest. I laughed every time it came out. Only reason why I gave her 4 stars.

Different

This novel was a little monologue and too detail at times. Yet, it gave some great insights and information and a little suspenseful. Therefore, I give it a five star review!!

Loved it

It's a story of a woman healing and past and coming into her own. I'm happy it ended the way it did. My only con is that it dragged at a few points. However, for a spanned 3+ years of a woman's life that is to be expected.

Great

I enjoyed this grown up story of a woman coming into herself. Black women get such a bad reputation for being unapologetically being ourselves and I loved that she didn’t allow stereo typical b.s. get in her way of her worth. Great listen

Very repetitive

There was no depth to the story. It was a journal entry not a book. She didn’t give much detail even in her flashbacks, we were just introduced to the guys then you assume that it ended without any real story telling. It reads like a good therapist wanting to give life advise but is a bad writer so basically, this is the best you get. I thought I would enjoy it more but really did not
