About this listen

This audiobook chronicles the entire history of this legendary Christian metal band. From the members' childhoods, the Roxx Regime era, the radio and MTV success, and packed arenas, through their triumphant reunion tours and recordings, it covers just about everything there is to know about Stryper - not just the fluff. Such questions as, "How did Stryper evolve?" and "What really happened during the Against the Law time period?" are all answered here. The answers, derived from countless hours of interviews, come directly from the band members themselves and many others.©2006 Dale Erickson and Jesse Sturdevant (P)2006 Classic CD Books Entertainment & Celebrities Celebrity

2 problems...

The narration is horrendous. I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride. Having done voice over work myself, I can't believe this guy got the gig. Every sentence has the same pattern, rhythm and intensity. Secondly, the abridged version leaves a lot of stuff out. There is a portion of the book where it literally sounds like an edit and the topic just suddenly changes. I don't feel like the abridged version was well thought out. I think they just literally "cut out" 2 hours and let the story land "wherever". There are some interesting tidbits in this story, don't get me wrong. But I am willing to bet the only people who want to give this a listen are big time Stryper fans...if so, go for the unabridged version and get the whole story, even if that means listening to 2 more hours of horrible narration.
