About this listen

Unlikely duo Pip and Flinx return to right another wrong in this all-new sci-fi adventure from one of the genre's living legends.

Empathic Flinx and his minidrag, Pip, have saved the universe more times than they can count, but the return of an old friend pulls the duo from their retirement and plunges them into a story of intrigue and imagination. The planet of Largess has recently opened itself to trade with the human-dominated Commonwealth. But when the daughter of a powerful chieftain goes missing, authorities believe a covert agent to be the cause. They need someone to track down the princess and roust the troublemaker and to do so without alerting the whole planet to their involvement. Can Pip and Flinx, perpetual fish out of water, save the day?

about time!

it has been awhile, and i will attest this is not the pinnacle of sci-fi / fantasy, it was an enjoyable listen. the singsong speech becomes grating, but overall a nice continuation of the Flix / Pip saga!

the sing speech was a bit annoying, but you get use to it and the story is a true pip & flinx saga

Nice to have another Pip-n-flinx adventure

Nice to have a fresh story. I was kind of put off by the sing-song reading but Stefan Rubnicki did a good job of narrating it. Hope there will be more.

OPERA!

all Alan Dean Foster books are special and wonderful, the PIP and flinx stories especially so.
this particular book is unique in that it has narrators Stefan Rudnicki and Kevin Hearne SINGING, I know, I couldn't believe it either. it's a great book and not bad singing either.!

Unbearable

There is a little singer inside all of us. In most cases, this is where it should remain. Unfortunately, the performer chose otherwise. Strange music indeed. When will proof listening be invented?

once more with feeling

The pseudo-singing is really annoying. I wish I had read this one with my eyes instead of my now-offended ears.

I generally love this narrator, but the whole singing language thing didn’t work for me.

Decent story premise. But, having the narrator sing was a real mistake. It was grating to listen to at points. I absolutely love Stefan Rudnicki as a narrator, but this one just wasn’t in his wheelhouse.

Good Story Bad Narration

I have never been disappointed by anything Mr Foster has written, until now. When a writer has to reference so many worlds and characters in the first chapter, I am insulated as a fan. Yes bring in the Commonwealth, but lets be subtle about it. But, it is a Flinx adventure, so there is that going for it. However, the narrator has way too low of a voice and as the title implies, there is a kind of music involved. Sing speech is an interesting idea, but someone should have thought it through. I also do not understand why after so many adventures Philip Linx would not see trouble coming. But alas, I will buy the next ten Flinx adventure books without a moment's thought. Please keep writing Mr Foster.
