Publisher's summary

A consummate insider as the girlfriend of Lindsey Buckingham, Fleetwood Mac singer and guitarist, Carol Ann Harris leads fans into the very heart of the band's storms between 1976 and 1984. From interactions between the band and other stars - Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, and Dennis Wilson - to the chaotic animosity between band members, this memoir combines the sensational account of some of the world's most famous musicians with a thrilling love story. The parties, fights, drug use, shenanigans, and sex lives of Fleetwood Mac are presented in intimate detail.

With the exception of one brief interview, Carol Ann Harris has never before spoken about her time with Fleetwood Mac.

enjoyable

thought it was a bit trashy at first but by the end grew fond of carol and her storytelling
the narration takes some getting used to, but once you’ve listened for a while you forget that it’s a little robotic

A backstage pass!

I was so obsessed with Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie nicks when I was younger. This book is a must for fans that want to learn all about the underbelly of all their lives. I think the author does a great job at telling us about her life with Lindsey and the band and gives an honest account of the dysfunctional family the band was. It was a non-stop awesome, drug taking, fanciful, delusional world!

Awesome

This book is the best I’ve read in a long time. Thank you. I wish Fleetwood Mac would get back together.

Great read

The narrator's tone doesn't match the story at all. Carol Ann's story is so captivating and the narration doesn't do it justice. The book is really beautifully written - fun and heartbreaking. It would be difficult not to make some of the same choices Carol made being young and in love with a complicated, but sensitive and beautiful genius.

Captivating!

Was hesitant to try this book because some people didn’t like the narrator. I thought she was great and the story was so compelling I couldn’t put it down. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent

The voice of the narrator was irritating. Wish that Carol did the narrrating. Also good to show male anger.

Was like being in the room with them!

Lived this book! Originally bought a hard copy when it first came out years ago; but was upset how my idols were being portrayed & pitched it. Now all these years later; I decided to revisit it after FM fired Lindsey last year right before their 50th anniversary tour. I now realize the author is telling the truth about the huge dysfunction & egos...which continue to this day. Enjoyed having this backstage pass into their heyday. Beautifully written & narrated.

Comprehensive, but flawed

Most of the previous comments involved the sticky – sweet narration of Carly Robins. At first, I agreed, but taking a deeper dive, the narrator was merely interpreting the prose she was given to read. And as you start to listen to the words, you realize that this is truly written like a Harlequin Romance. Therefore, the fault doesn’t lie with the narrator. Harris is very comprehensive in her retelling of the story, and much kudos to her for apparently not leaving out any details. I commend her for the comprehensive story itself, but the writing gets way too passive – aggressive at times, entirely too flowery, and the combination of that and the “damsel in distress“ narration does get annoying. Still, those that are fans of the band will likely consider this tell-all worthy. However, those fans need to prepare for the fact that by the end of this book, if they thought that there were heroes in the band before, they will discover there are none. Maybe with the exception of John McVie - although other bios about the band don’t spare him as easily as Harris does.
