Who knew there were so many uses for wild plants?

I knew next to nothing about foraging wild plants for consumption before I listened to this audiobook. In fact, I assumed there weren't many edible wild plants. I was wrong! This audiobook goes over the different parts of plants (nuts, roots, mushrooms, herbs) that can be used for basic sustenance or even healing.
One thing I learned from this audiobook was that you should never take more than 1/3 of the plant, and that herbs should be individually stored in different bags.
This audiobook was well-researched, and the author clearly has a passion for the topic. The information is easily digestible for a beginner. Highly recommend!

A complete guide to foraging !

WOW! I am very impressed by the level of thorough information inside of this audiobook. The author covers all and everything! The reader is made aware of the various areas in which it is best to forage for nature’s healing edibles, as well as warning us to be highly conscious of how we seek out natures gifts. (After listening to this audiobook I want to book a trip to Colorado to see what I can find! Lol)

The author encourages us to “Be an ethical forager and not a pillager”. This was SO profound !!! I was like Yes!! Sometimes when we find a good thing we want to get as much as we can for fear of it running out. The author lets us know that we shouldn’t
harvest more than 1/3 of plant so it can continue to grow and be fruitful, thus making even more amazing edibles for us to consume !

I really enjoyed listening to the recipes as well. It’s one thing to search for these amazing finds, but it’s another to know how to properly utilize them as a tasty addition to our daily meals.

I also appreciate that the author gives us warning signs of which items are not edible and what to look for in terms of making sure we don’t make the mistake of eating something we’re not supposed to eat! It takes great wisdom and knowledge to be able to forage effectively.

Listening to the recipes with the mushrooms. Yummy —my favorite! I am partial to mushroom risotto all day everyday! :-)

A big thumbs up to the author for all of this incredible information presented in an interesting and uplifting way!

Functional Survival Wisdom

Have been looking to get more into foraging lately, and purchased this title to learn what edible plants and mushrooms are available in my region. Was more pleasantly surprised than I expected, the title not only provided detailed descriptions of edible plants in my area, but where to find them, and which ones to avoid. Planning on consulting this moving forward, as it is very info dense!
